We all see it. Dont act like you dont. A black guy walks into a convenient store and everyone looks at eachother like he's gonna rob the place. They glare at the convenient store clerk because he's Arab. They smirk at the kid on the skateboard like he's the one who's responsible for all the kids out there who are out of control these days. People take the time to think about these things.
What people DONT think about? Is that that black guy is buying food for his kids on his way home from work. Or that if the Arabs didnt buy 7-11's then us white folks would have to do all the work around here. Or that the kid on the skateboard is buying his sick mother some over-the-counter medication instead of hanging with his friends, riding his board cause he's too young to drive.
Its not today's black mans fault that american society used to make him pee in a separate bathroom than whites. Or make him drink from a separate water fountain. Its not the Arabs fault that his country is a piece of shit and he came to America to provide a good life for his family, something we all want to do. Its not the kid on the skateboards fault that his dad left and he has to take care of his sick mom. Its not his fault that todays youth has lost touch with what life is all about.
We see colors people. We see black and think crime. We see white turbines on someones head and think terrorist. We see teenagers with long messy hair and see red cause we were raised better than that. We dont see reality. We see whats easy to see. Colors. Labels. Stereotypes. What we DONT see?
The fault in ourselves.
