I've decided to be nice to my big, corporate, faceless and profiteering bank for a change.  just over a year ago I was having my own sub prime crisis and when I turned to my bank for some help...  they helped me out (for a small cost, of course). 
So now that my bank is having a few worries about the available cash they have to lend out, I'd help them out (for a small fee of course) since I've overcome my problem and have a few extra pounds I can offer.  With that encouraging news, my bank have less to worry about and can begin offering better mortgage deals.
