001. Keep a thinspiration book. Get a really nice journal or something and print pictures of skinny models, tips, quotes, or workouts, and glue it in there. Look through it whenever you want to binge.
002. Keep a stack of magazines weighing the same amount you want to lose. When you lose weight remove some magazines from the stack. It will be thinspirational to see that pile slowly start to get smaller.
003. Eat on a blue or black plate. Dark colors usually make you feel fuller, faster. Better yet, eat on small dark plates.
004. When you want to eat something you shouldn't, make a list of all the reasons you shouldn't, and read it 20 times.
005. When you get a craving, count to 100 really slowly, and it might pass.
006. If you live by yourself, put up motivational pictures or numbers on the unsafe foods. Stick your goal weight to the peanut butter jar.
007. Get one of those three ring binders and make a section for each part of the body. Put all the exercises you've got in there according to what body part there for.
008. Pick one food for the day, like an apple. Cut it into 4 quarters. Eat one part for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner, and you've got one left over for a snack.
009. Take a Polaroid picture of yourself wearing nothing but your underwear. When you want to binge, look at it, and see all that fat that you need to get rid of? Carry it in your wallet whenever you go somewhere where there will be food.
010. If you live by yourself and prone to binges, buy only the food you need for the day. That way if you eat it, there isn't anymore.
011. Eat with the opposite hand you normally do. Left handed people eat with their right hand, and vice versa.
012. Wear a rubber band around your wrist and snap it when you want to eat. You'll train yourself not to think about eating.
013. Spend a little time every day on pro-anorexic sites or doing something completely and totally thinspirational.
014. Clean something gross like a litter box when you want to eat.
015. Wear tight tight jeans so you remember how much weight you have to lose.
016. Pour tons of something gross on your food like salt or dish soap so you can't eat it. (if your eating out, use the former, and say you accidentally put too much salt on, and its too salty)
017. If you get really bad headaches it could possibly be from dehydration so drink lots of water.
018. Eat in front of the mirror. Hell, eat in front of the mirror naked and see how much you want to eat then.
019. Drink herbal teas. They have no calories. If you don't like them unsweetened, buy some splenda. Or if you're more in to natural stuff, try stevia, its like sugar, but no cals.
020. When you get the urge to eat chew sugar free gum. Just make sure you keep track of how much you have. Most kinds have 5 calories a piece.
021. Freeze your foods. I freeze yogurt and make ice cubes out of Crystal Lite. Frozen yogurts take forever to eat so you feel occupied longer.
022. When you go to a restaurant order something that's not too unhealthy. Put half of it in a doggy bag and say your going to eat it tomorrow for lunch. Then eat half of what's on your plate and "forget" the doggy bag in the restaurant.
023. Eat breakfast and lunch or just breakfast, never eat dinner cause if you eat dinner you don't give your body enough time to burn off the calories.
024. Go shopping and try on clothes that you wish you could fit you and that should stop your craving for food.
025. Pinch all your fat if you want to eat and see how disgusting it is and then you'll think that if you eat you'll just add more to it and you don't want that.
026. If you can go to your kitchen and take all the bad foods that you know you will binge on and just throw them away.
027. Make sure you get enough calcium. Take your vitamin.
028. If you sit a lot every hour get up and go crazy start dancing or jumping stupidly or anything like that it will boost your metabolism for a little.
029. Stay away from food and the kitchen there evil!(unless your parents are around, then pretend like you just finished getting a snack)
030. Have you ever noticed that most people who you see eating are fat? Well remember this if you eat like them you'll be as fat as them.
031. Try to plan how much your going to eat and what there's a 30% more chance you wont over eat then.

115. When going out, take only the amount of money you'll need and nothing extra. That way you won't be tempted to spend it on food.
116. Every time you think you'd spend money on food. Take that money and put it somewhere safe, after awhile you'll have enough money to buy that cute shirt you saw and be skinnier b/c you didn't use that money for food.
117. Sitting up straight and having good posture burns 10% more calories than when you slouch.

119. If you feel like eating, eat negative calorie foods only.

140. Find a buddy online, do fasts w/ her, competitions, or just have someone to email when you're craving.
141. Take kelp pills. They boost metabolism.

143. Low calorie hot chocolate curbs chocolate cravings, and makes you feel full.
144. Don't eat anything for 3 hours before you go to sleep.

147. Wear a fashionable scarf when you're cold and no one else is. They won't suspect anything then.
148. Sniff scented markers to curb cravings.
149. Wear a rubber-band around your wrist, snap it against your skin when you are tempted to eat.
150. Plan your college schedule so that you have few long gaps between classes. That way you won't have time for the cafeteria food.
151. Keep a trash can near you when you eat. If you feel you're going to over eat, throw the rest of the food away.
152. Take anti heartburn pills if you're really hungry. They neutralize that acid that builds and makes you hungry.
153. If you eat right before bed, lay on your left side so the food goes through your system faster.
154. Wear nail polish to hide the discoloring in your nails from lack of nutrients.
155. Chew gum if you need to cook so you won't eat any of the food.

berlinwall93 Personally, I have struggled with anorexia and bulimia for many years. I was diagnosed in the fifth grade and I am going into my senior year of high school. I understand your concern over the topic, but that is no reason to put the post down. If you disagree or are offended, I am sure you could contact the poster and let them know instead of verbally abusing everyone on here over your own personal problems. I comprehend that eating disorders are not a joke, and I do not like that people think of it as a fad, but it is not anyone's place to say who is right and who is wrong. People have every right to post things like this, as you have your right to argue it. The immaturity in you is evident and if you are that concerned, maybe you should report it; not simply bitch about it through a comment. I am not discrediting some of the valid points you made, but I believe that there is a better way to go about handling them.
As for anyone who is looking this up as a quick fix to unwanted weight, please try to find a better method. Using anorexic or bulimic methods of fast weight loss can be helpful at first, but can quickly develop into an eating disorder. As a sufferer, I know how much it sucks to have to deal with this disease every day. It is not something you love at all. It destroys your world and makes you feel like less of a person. I would strongly recommend finding a different method, but I can not force you to. Some of the "tips and tricks" are good for basic dieting anyways: such as drinking plenty of water, getting plenty of sleep, taking vitamins, and generally watching your food intake. Such extreme measures to lose weight can damage your health permenantly and leave you emotionally and physically drained. Human bodies are not meant to function in such a way, therefore I recommend going to a gym and simply cutting back on calories to a healthy range. According to research by many doctors, a human should consume a minimum of 1200 calories a day to maintain bodily functions. I would suggest consuming between 1200-1500 calories a day and going for a 30-45 minute brisk walk and the weight will honestly fall off and you don't have to go to such durastic measures to lose weight.

I am eighteen years old. 5 ft 5, and 115 lbs. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I exersize only twice a week by dancing in my ballet class and I have never been on a diet in my life.
This "Pro-ana" stuff is something I have only come across recently because I suspect one of my oldest friends has developed anorexia in the last year.
I find it so upsetting that so many of you girls out there read this for "thinspiration". If you really took a step back from yourselves and read it, you would be shocked. As I read this I am shocked, it is horrible, and disgusting and most importantly unnatural.
Your bodies are supposed to get enough protein, fat, sugar and salt to function properly. ie: so you DONT GET headaches, stomach aches, nausia, dizziness. All of these side effects are telling you your body isn't right on a small amount of food. Listen to yourself! Please!
I am literally seeing my friend waste away, and waiting for the day she gets taken into hospital. I know it may seem like a "diet" at the moment, but this mindset can lead to your body failing on you.

Laurents17 I'm not really an advocate of the pro-ana movement because I think it's unhealthy and leads to severe cases of anorexia. With that being said, your comment was simply condescending and rude. The people reading this site and using these tips most likely have some psychological problems (sorry if that phrasing sounds mean, but anorexia is a psychological disorder) and coming here to tell them about how you have zero empathy for what they are going through seems pretty cruel to me. There are lots of people out there who, like you, have a healthy relationship with the food they eat, and that's great. However, the people that post on sites like these haven't had the same experiences you have, and their relationship with food is more complicated. I don't think that attacking them is the answer.

Sakura2 I am 5'4" 100 lbs and have been following an 800 calorie diet since January 2010. I have lost approximately 10 lbs since initiating this, and I think I am further progressing into a state of actual anorexia. I never intended for this to happen, but now it seems as though I cannot control every obsessive food-centered thought in my head. I search and utilize pro-ana sites and feel sort of guilty. katorco No. The best thing to do is tell a parent. It doesn't matter if you're 13 or 33, your parents can help you out. Also If you get over the obsessive compulsive thoughts, I tried www.myfitnesspal.com and have lost weight very quickly that way. And the best part was I did it quilt free and didn't have to always be hungry. It is 100% free and is extremely helpful. Hope I could give you some good advice.

katorco I suffered from serious body image issues. Standing at 5'7" and 150 pounds, I am definitely not model thin, but I do maintain a small waist and thinner thighs and arms through unbelievably light exercises. I imagined I had to starve myself to lose weight. But I joined www.myfitnesspal.com, which is 100% free to everyone, and have lost 20 pounds in the last 5 weeks, and I'm toned up. Have you, like myself, tried stuff like that and just didn't see the results? This is no way to ridicule anyone, in any way, on this site. I just thought maybe I could offer a suggestion to give people who are thinking about this extremity of dieting one last ditch effort that actually works fast. It does start you out on a 1200 calorie a day diet, which is typical for new dites but not enough to stay safe, but you will work your way up as your body needs the calories to burn fat and build lean muscle. I 100% sympathize with anyone suffering from eating disorders, as a student in my graduate studies of psychology, I see how serious and damaging it is to the body and mind. I hope to see everyone on this site find a healthier way of doing this. Some of the little tips on this website aren't bad. (i.e., dark plates,gum while you're cooking, getting plenty of water and multi-vitamins) because it does not hurt to cut some of the over snacking to help with dieting. However you cannot base an entire meal plan on self defecating tips that only make you feel more hurt with yourself and continual calorie cutting. I'm sharing this solely as an answer and an alternative to your question, however I cannot support the meaning behind this list. You are so young. All I ask is that you at least check out if not try this.

nishtianne Girls, I do not have the perfect body and I struggle with the temptation of food every day. But I really don't think this is the way. I could tell you that you're all gorgeous humans on the inside, that beauty and thinness is only skin deep but I know this won't help, because what you feel cannot be easily changed. But I know for sure that I would rather be obese than one of those horrible twisted people that make you feel driven to this, that call you names and make you feel worthless, and I'm sure many people will agree.
The thing is, if you're putting your body through this for them, you should really know that they aren't worth this. Headaches, hunger pains, weakness, tiredness; why are you in pain for the sake of shallow others?
As stated above, there are better, healthier ways to lose weight, it won't happen as quickly but I can assure you that you will feel so much better FOR YOURSELVES. Eat, but eat healthy, eat vegetables, fruits, salads even lean meats and nuts. Calories are not the enemy, you do not want to have less than 1500. Keep an eye on the fat content of things, more than 5g per 100g of food is generally to be avoided, but do not obsess, do not let it ruin your life. What's the point in subsidising bullying for food obsession? Do exercise, not because you have to, but cause you've found something you enjoy, its also a great way to make friends that aren't appearance obsessed. In time you will not only look and feel healthy, but you will gain a confidence in yourselves.
I know that on many of you this will be wasted, but for the few that will listen just remember that you are worth something, you are beautiful no matter what anyone says and one day you will be laughing at the people that make you feel rubbish. (Trust me, the day comes around sometime!) Do this for you and not for them, and do it healthily. Please think about this.

I just wanted to say that I've struggled with eating disorders since I was 14 years old. I am a musician, and as many artists can probably relate, perfection has always been important to me. This obsession with being "perfect" really took over my life. I struggled with a combination of anorexia and bulimia for years. I'm 25 now, and just finished up my degree in nutrition. Educating myself about how to live a healthy lifestyle and still look good-has changed my life forever. You need to understand that these behaviors you are doing are very much temporary fixes. You will eventually reach your breaking point and your body will not be able to handle the stress you are putting it through everyday. I found this website because I am very passionate about helping people escape their food obsessions because I know what you are going through. I want to state a few facts that might make you reconsider an anorexic lifestyle choice
1) The number one cause of death from anorexia is suicide, next is system organ failure or dehydration
2) When you eat so few calories each day, your metabolism slows down drastically.
3) If you slip up and abandon your anorexic habits for a short period of time, you will gain weight much more rapidly than you would if you were eating a balanced diet.
4) Your thyroid gland regulates your body's metabolism. Eating less than 1000 calories a day for a long period of time can permanently damage your metabolism which could mean slow metabolism the rest of your life.
5) The more muscle your body has, the higher your metabolism will be. When you fast and do not eat enough protein, your muscles begin to deteriorate thus contributing to decreased metabolism and decreased cognitive function, aka brain power!
Those of you who suffer from the disease or who are considering this lifestyle-PLEASE know that you are not stupid. The society we live in constantly promotes a perfect body image that is VERY unreasonable for a normal female to sustain. So many factors contribute to this state of mind whether it is teasing from others or comparing ourselves to the best looking girls. Everyone wants to be happy, and you need to know that being less than 100 pounds will not bring you long-term happiness.
If you want help with establishing a healthier eating pattern or find some ideas about losing weight in a more sustainable way, I am more than happy to talk with you.

I truly hope that anyone on here looking for tips realizes that this is NOT the way to be "beautiful" or accepted. It is a nightmare. Beautiful is not ribs and hip bones and numbers on a scale. LOVVVE HI ladies. I have a wonderful friend who is anorexic and she inspires me. NOT because she strives to be thin, but because she knows its wrong and she needs to change. She showed me this site and knew it was wrong to promote something that kills many people.
I watch what I eat and I exercise in a healthy fashion. I eat until I no longer feel hungry and I exercise a few hours a day through running and dance classes. I sometimes look at myself in the mirror and wish I was thinner because although I am "Slim" I am not perfect.
BUT most importantly I am healthy. I am happy and l love myself for who I am. I don't judge others on what they look like, how much they eat or what size jeans they are wearing, I look at others personalities and how even the most ugliest people can truly the most beautiful.
I wish others would consecrate more on what kind of people they are rather than what they look like. Beating yourself up because your ass might be a tad bigger than the girl next to you isn't necessary. Be happy you are alive! that you have one more day to live, weather you are "fat" or not. Caring about what others think about you can really bring you down. SO DON'T CARE. if you don't have friends that love you for who you are. then they are not friends.
I believe that Whats on the inside is more important. So what if all models are size twos? FUCK THEM!! I say every size can be beautiful! And everyone can feel beautiful when they are happy. So treat yourself every once and a while. A chocolate bar is not going to kill you. But also remember that eating healthy foods (with carbs, because they keep your heart ticking) keep you healthy. And proper exercise can make you feel great! Keeping your body in a healthy shape sends endorphin's to your head which can give you a more positive outlook, and a boost of self confidence!
Overall, I think that there is more to life than being thin! I have watched my friend suffer in the hospital for years, and a remarkable thing happened. Last year she was released. She gained weight and was a tad "chubby". She is still one of the most beautiful girls at my school, because of her BOOMING self confidence, her kindness towards everyone, and her contagious smile. She may not have the nicest shape, or whatever, but she has the most friends, and a SEXXXYYY boyfriend who loves her anyways.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't mean to offend anyone who disagrees with what I have said. I just think there is more important things to worry about than your weight. Try helping someone else for a change. There are people starving all over the world that would love some of the food your diet makes you turn down.
OH and P.S, for those of you who are unhealthily over weight, try seeing your doctor who can suggest healthy ways to lose weight, but maintain your overall health. You can always start my a healthy, BUT FILLING diet and a run on the treadmill. Remember there really isn't a need to go overboard on thinness, but perhaps concentrate on how healthy you are making your body. let your doctor decide what is appropriate weight loss.

calambeck Okay, I have to post.. if I don't.. I fear a lot of people will suffer the same as I have suffered. I read this site about a year ago. I was 14 years old and I wanted to be thin like the supermodels, I wanted everyone to stop calling me fat and telling me to lose weight, even though I see now I was only a few pounds over weight.
About 3 months ago, I was taken into hospital, at 5 stone, while I was 5'11 which is extremely underweight medically, but due to this page I didn't think I was doing well enough, I thought I needed to do more.
Not eating became a habbit and a daily routine:
Get up, dressed and go for a run, come back, jog on the spot in the shower (fell over more times than I can count) take my multivitamins and leave the house for school. During school i confined myself to the classroom furthest away from the canteen as it was safest because the draft of that delicious but fattening food was too much to handle for me, ever. after school i would come in and go and do homework, explaining to my mum that i had eaten with my best friend Lucy, and then go to the local swimming pool and do 200 lengths before i would let myself get out. about 6 months ago I couldnt do this anymore. I could only do about 50 before becoming completely exhausted and nearly passing out. i would then jog home (2 miles) and come in and stay in my room all night reading this list over and over again..
i thought i was getting better and i never thought for a minute this was actually life threatening.
but 3 months ago, I was admitted to hospital about 2pm as i collapsed in school and wouldn't wake up.
from then on, the control was taken out of my hands. i fought and struggled but i was force fed, and constantly monitored and examened, i felt like a test rat or something.
the most unpleasent experience of my life had to be the doctor coming into the toilet with me while i went to do ym business, extremely awkward for a while.
the program in the hospital i went to, showed me pictures of myself, decreasing in size over the year i was like this.. and i did see it. i had shy'd away from pictures being taken as i was repulsed with my body... but here i realsied that this was wrong of me.
while getting healthier and putting on weight (not willingly) a month and a week went past, I was eating and drinking healthily and sensibly, and i was discharged and sent away with a plan and support from my family.
the first week was horrible. I screamed cried and punched things, my papery skin breaking at the contact with the wall and i refused to eat...
i only ate when being taken back to the hospital became a threat and i immediately ate.
there was no use hiding things or trying to throw up.
but over this time i ahve realsied that actually, i am a normal-ish size. i am still underweight and am gaining weight faster than i'd like to... i hope to reach a target goal of about 9 stone in half a years time.

it is horrible. i want no one to go through what i went through.
YOU ARE NOT FAT.
Just because somebody called you fat doesn't mean you have to believe them. if you are over weight, and your BMI will tell you that, there's websites which tell you your bmi just by putting in your age weight and height. if that says you are over weight, don't suddenly stress and want to lose weight. weight loss should be a gradual thing, and a healthy thing. and once you reach a perfect BMI...
STOP. Don't try and get underweight. it's not healthy and it hurts so much to think of all I went through because of this stupid website.
it's poison, and like all poison, if you keep using it, will KILL you.
I love you all girls and boys. I want you all to be healthy. Please get off this site and just eat like a human being.
it says 1000 calories or less? the skinny person would normally eat about 1800 and the average person eats 2000 a day.
BE HEALTHY. BE SAFE. BE YOURSELF.

PeaceLoveMetal I'm turning 18 and have absolutely HATED my body my whole freaking life. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of being uncomfortable in jeans and uncomfortable with my own skin. I AM SICK OF FEELING LIKE A FAILURE. I need to discipline myself into using food for survival like it was meant to be, not for taste and to eat because I'm bored. My lowest weight was 118 a year ago and I still had chubby thighs, a stomach, and small love handles. Today I weighed in at a disgusting 134. I am have gone 16 pounds BACKWARDS because I let myself eat whatever during the summer and can't stop eating or gaining weight. I find THAT to be something I need to overcome. I want to be 110, since I've been 118 and was still too fat (I also have no muscle, so I need to way even less than people who do have muscle). I've set a minumum weight of 100 pounds so that I don't go overboard, but I am just so sick of feeling fat. I need to get skinny NOW. I've been trying for years. I just need the discipline... I also have a slow metablism so I think I actually gain weight with the so-called "recommened" 1500 calories. Fasting is also healthy if you don't go overboard with it and drink plenty of water. It flushes out your body to give you a fresh start. My plan is to do a fast, then go up to eating small, healthy things throughout the day with my vitamins. I'm going to gradually eat more until I'm good with the amount. I don't need that much food, and I'm already a vegetarian. I just need to train my mind to not want to eat when I don't need to. I want food when I am bored. I CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE. I know I will probably be watching my weight my whole life, but I don't want to be fat! I'm so sick of it. I'm not going to go overboard, especially since my best friend will be watching me. I just want to lose my love handles, thighs, flabby arms, and have a beautiful flat stomach to compliment my hip and bellybutton piercings. If I start to lose control, then some of you are right, but I'm going to try my hardest not to. I WILL NOT be fat anymore. :P

i don know how much i way because I'm to depressed to find out. I've heard people call me fat and i want to lose weight but i want to loose it a healthier way than just not eating, i don't want to be anorexic i don't want to be too skinny i just want to loose a little so that i can be myself without people saying "who ate all the pies" when i walk down the road, does anyone feel the same?

Nanita97 I've been called fat all my life and I even tried starving myself but I got through it by watching what I ate I ate heathly foods and joined soccer I'm proud to say I lost the weight I wanted but in a healthy way . Why would you try to loose weight this way like the site tells you to all that will happen is you hurt yourself and become weak and fragile if you grow too skinny then it becomes an obsession that could probably kill you. Why not just eat healthy and excersise right so you can lose the weight and no do harm to your self or your body . I know it's tough being bullied but there r other better ways some of you probably think oh she just doesn't get it but I do and I hope this helps at least 1 person
