 Some Kinda MGS-illness Hybrid
So about 11 days ago I started to experience discomfort in the throat. Soon that discomfort turned into pain, and later on into intense pain. I started to take vitamin C at about day 3 of the pain in an attempt to combat the impending illness. It was no use and by day 8 a headache and sinus pained joined the mix. At this point I had no choice but to call in sick to work and see a doctor first thing in the morning (I work graveyard shift).

So I started heading off to the doctor in the morning, arrived at the office, and took a seat. To my amazement the wait was only 3 minutes. My mood picked up in a positive manner as a result of this short wait. But I soon awaited an… well, let’s say an unpleasant experience. After being guided to an empty office I waited for about 5 minutes for the Doc to show up, all the while reading a twenty year old book about the Third Reich. The Doc finally shows up and is all lax about the situation, she didn’t even greet me, she just sat down on the computer and looked up god knows what. After about 3 minutes of computer usage she read my chart, grunted a greeting, and began to examine my nose and ears. The nose examination went fine, but the ear study didn’t quite go as smoothly. She remarked that I had too much ear wax and she couldn’t see anything. I noted that that was odd since I had used q-tips to clean my ears about 2 days prior. She grumbled that the tips just push the earwax and turned to her desk and pulled out what looked like a long purple toothpick. “What’s that for?” I remarked with a bit of an uneasy feeling. “I’m going to pry out the earwax with it,” she replied. At this point the uneasiness increased and I began to doubt her credentials. It’s kind of like the feeling if you got on a plane and before take-off you hear, “Hello this is the pilot speaking…” but instead of a male voice you hear a female one in its place. You know what I’m talking about? Not that there’s anything wrong with that though… wink wink it’s just that it’s never happened before and uh… yah just uncomfortable.

So anyway, this Doc jabs this very sharp toothpick into the side of my ear and starts wrenching on the packed ear wax. Most often I can take quite a bit of pain without saying a word, but perhaps this doctor doesn’t realize that what she is doing is NOT RIGHT and very painful. I throw in a pained “owww” in an attempt to make her stop, she just kept on prying and after about 20seconds of wrangling she pulled out a massive string of ear wax along with half of a severed ear drum. I’m kidding about the last part, but could you imagine her fucking severing my ear drum? Ouch. After satisfying her sadistic ear fetish she took another look at my chart and said with a questioned look, “You have had these throat problems for over a week? “ I nodded and then she said “ok, it must be bacteria.” She wrote a prescription for some anti-biotics and hurried out the door, but before she reached the out of eyesight range I quickly splurted out, “Ummm, could I get a doctor’s note for work?” She rolled her eyes, quickly scribbled out a note, and left. I left the clinic happy to finally get some pills, and looked at the note as I was getting to the car. It read, “Matt was at the clinic today.” Then her signature, not even the fucking date. I was befuddled with frustration but carried on and came to work another day later. I gave the assistant manager of my department the note with my breath held. He glanced at it, gave me a “what the fuck?” look and told me that the so called doc was not a doctor, but some sort of nurse-janitor-doctor hybrid or something like that. But in short she was not qualified to write a doctor’s note for my illness, corporate only accepts doctor’s notes from certified doctors.

To sum everything up I got into some heat from the managers in my department and I felt like shit (and still do). Great. Anyway, I decided to get this out there and off my chest.

I bought the Metal Gear Solid compilation recently and have beaten MSG1 and 2 so far. I beat Metal Gear Solid 3 about 2 years ago and that is the only Metal Gear Solid game I had played up until I bought the compilation. I am currently replaying MSG3 and will give more of an “outsiders” view on the first 3 installments as well as the series as I know it. Be sure to look for that in the near future. In other news I’m going to try out quotes and whatnot before signing off the blog because it just feels right. The first will be one for all of those people in the world that have children but really shouldn’t.

Don’t be a fool, wrap your tool.
