The littlest things
Tonight it’s just me and Brussels
And that feel just fine
For tonight.

They had stuffed me and 12 others in a cellar earlier that day.
To talk solutions,
And systems,
And procedures,

And bla bla bla di bla

I had looked around the room and wondered how many of my fellow prisoners really, no REALLY, knew what they were talking about. But for the greater good of this world I was supposed to participate. So I played along with the rest, pretending I knew exactly what I was doing here in the cellar of Brussels. Well at least I had dressed for the part today.

“Firstly I would like to thank both my dear mother and always supporting father, without them I would never have been here to receive this award. Mum, dad, this Oscar is for you!”

No windows.
No fresh air.
No sense.

“Do you speak French” my boss asked with a slight panic in his voice, as half the people in the room started jabbering away in a foreign tune. Luckily, for both of us I did. “And do you speak THIS language?” was the next question whispered into my ear, as a young Philippe nervously started his presentation, in eeze best eenleesh, on the solution to our … issues.

Luckily for both I did. Raised multi-lingual you see.

“Again, without my parents, who have always believed in me, in my talents, I would never have pursued the road to success. I thank you both from the bottom of my heart”. –let single tear run down right cheek and then delicately wipe away with little finger-

Hooray for HP solutions teams. I recommend everyone gets a solutions team to solve all their personal problems and issues. All you have to do is state your required functionalities, where you are and where you would like to be. Let them do their work for a few days, I assure you they will come back to you. They will have come up with 2 or 3 brilliant options;

“Well miss Hope, if you start by asking for a raise, then step two would be getting to work by eight thirty and not leaving till at least eight, and finally if you stick it out another 5 year, the we can assure you that you’ll have enough money to travel and see all the wonders of the world whilst on sick leave for a burnout.”

Perfect

“or…”

Sh#t, I have a choice?

“Miss Hope, another solution could be to finish that evening course as soon as possible, networking as much as you can along the way, Then according to the flow chart we constructed earlier, by February 2009 you will have picked up your degree, contacted an … organization, and have bought your ticket to Brasil, or any other given destination. Making this world a better place for the next generations”

But… But, what if I haven’t decided on a destination yet?

“ And then for options 3, a popular choice with many clients, you could take up socializing with acquaintances in the evenings, instead of nonsense education. Your expenses will mainly go into clothes and make up. When a species of the opposite sex smiles back at you, the next step is to accept a drink, a date, and the eventual marriage proposal. Within 2 years, or miss Hope, with YOUR charms and beauty, perhaps even 18 months, you could be well on your way. The outcome to solution 3 will be a beautiful white wedding, with 100 guests you might, or might not know, half your genes merging with your better half, and a prospect of years of coffee afternoons, tennis classes, and cheap flings to keep excitement up to par, a house with 4 bedrooms, good schools in the neighbourhood, a dog, camping holidays in France”

Maybe HP solution teams and flow charts and procedures did not have all the answers.

Maybe dreams and gut feelings and signs were the ways go.

Maybe.

Brilliant! If only life were that laid out, we wouldn't need our feelings or thoughts. We could all function as robots, well half of us already do, don't they.
