Right now I feel I have to write something. Every time I think I write. I write almost everything down that goes through my mind. Its what I would call my own therapy without spending those outrages prices on a therapist.
Well anyway I have been thinking a lot about God, Jesus, and the Bible.
I believe that their is a God (or a higher being then myself).
But what I'm having trouble with believing
is......... the Bible.
My whole family are Christians, but i can't seem to place my whole belief system on a book.
How do I know that it is the word of God and hundreds of years ago the people that wrote it actually did speak to God.
Actually I envy the people who do.
They have so much faith that one certain book has all the answers of life, death, and afterlife.
I have been trying to find all the information I can to see if this book most people would call The Holy Bible does have all the answers.
I am not trying to say the people that live through the Bible are wrong but how do you know its the truth.
If I read a random book and say this is the Bible would I be wrong?
And another thing that I can't understand is religion.
Why are there so many different types?
To name a few...... Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Wiccans and Pagans.
How do we know which one is the right one?
And why do people insist on fighting over such a irrelevant subject?
I am not trying to say anyone is wrong but really how do they know?
People spend their whole life trying to answer these same questions and in the end what do they have to show for their efforts....Nothing.
Oh and another thing,
If God is such an important part of the world's exsisitence then why can't we talk about this holy being in schools?
And why do people say oh thats against my religion I can't do that?
What really gets me is how people blame God and Satan on things they do but wont fess up to doing.
For example: A man goes to jail for killing a woman. When he explains what he has done he claims God or Satan came to me in a dream or vision saying to kill this woman.
So my point is if you claim God made you do it, is it ok?
But since Satan is evil and you claim that Satan made you do it, is it wrong?
The things that we claim are right and wrong also come from the Bible.
If we are not allowed to read or talk about the Bible why is our society based on it.
Okay it doesn't say tho shalt not run a read light or speed in a school zone,
but its does say
"Thou shalt not kill " ,
"Thou shalt not steal",
"Thou shat not commit adultery".
So for people who do not believe in God or The Bible explain to me why they still live by these rules God has set for all humanity?
And if its is also against the law to practice religion in a public place such as school and the work place, why are the commandments part of our law system?
If anyone can answer any of these questions without resulting to God, Satan, or the Bible I'm sure your the one person who doesn't believe in anything....... but fact.

I actually had this conversation with my uncle today. so here's my spoof.
first, the bible wasnt actually around when Jesus was preaching, at least not the new testament. otherwise he'd say "and then i'm gonna do this..." yeah not so much. plus in the new testament Jesus releases believers from the laws of the old testament.
here's what the old testament says in a nutshell: "no matter how hard you try not to be evil, you will fail."
the new testament picks up right after a human being fails. saying "love people". period. that's it.
most of the problems in christianity today is like luckyluci said, people take the bible too literally. it's not a history book or a book of laws. it's a book of teachings and morals. also, religion is a critical tool in assuming and keeping power. as long as you can keep a group of people thinking one way, you can use that as an advantage.
i believe there are so many religions because not even two people can agree on everything. so how can everybody believe in the same thing? the point is we all try to do good things, and when we fall short, try to accept each other after it.
just for reference. the actual translation from greek for the commandment "thou shalt not kill" is actually "you shall not murder." killing is one thing, but murder is wrong, no?
and i think all the religions add up into one sentence. "hey, be nice."
It is good to go through such questioning. It is not so easy to answer. Can I just tell you one thing which might help. I have always found the Bible difficult even though I was brought up by two wonderful Christian parents. I struggled with it for years, envying others who got so much through it. Then I did an Alpha course and began to understand a bit more. Through my church I attended a 6 week course by a man called Brother David Jardine. Suddenly all became clear and the pieces of the jigsaw came together. Today I enjoy a wonderful relationship with God and with it has come great healing and a sense of peace. I still wrestle with the Bible, but I believe. We all find what we are looking for at different times of our lives but it is an exciting journey. The fact that you are searching is a great beginning. As to all those faiths I don't know either. What I do know is that Jesus died an agonising death on the cross so that I could be forgiven for all the sins I have committed in my lifetime. I know that when I come to God in prayer, He answers. Not always the way I want, but it is right for me. May He show you the way very soon. Love, Elaine
Hello Mariedo, if a person was seeking God they would be confused with all the different religeions about, and say to themself, "Which one is right". God knew this and has given three things that seperate the true faith from all other faith's.
[1] The risen Christ, no other religion has a living Lord, or prophet, Jesus has changed millions of peoples lives over the years. When you experience the living Jesus in your life there is no doubt about Him, He becomes very real to you.And He is still doing healings and miracles by and through His name, Jesus said, "The believer shall do the same works that He did, through His name. John 14;12,
[2] The Holy Spirit, Jesus said, "When I go, I will send the Holy Ghost". John 14; 16, And "You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost has come upon you" Acts 1: 8.
The Holy Ghost empowers the Church to do the same works that Jesus did, and fills us with, Love joy and peace. when you have been baptised in the Holy Ghost you can never doubt the reality of God.
[3] The reality of the Bible, God said that He will confirm His word with signs following, Whenever we teach on healing, God confirms His word with healing people, and so on.
some of the things that God has said have, or are comming to pass, And some of the Things He said in the old testament have, or are coming to pass.
If you are realy seeking God, let me encourage you to become a born again Christian. That is when Jesus comes real to you as your personal Lord, saviour and good freind.
I'm not religious, I'm an athiest. But I am human and not as a general principle 'anti-religious'
I believe its purpose is to control people (sometimes but not always a bad thing), to alievate fear of death and simply to give people faith, which in turn gives them peace within themselves.
As a human I try to live by a moral code, so I know the difference between right and wrong. Like all people...sometimes I make mistakes but I don't think I'm a bad person.
Religion is not for me, and I doubt anyone could convince me otherwise, but I am still happy and I'm not a bad person, even though I've done bad things. I owned up to my mistakes and have done the best I can to repair them.
My philosophy is live and let live...I don't tell others what to believe and ask they don't try to tell me.
I think its good you're questioning things - to question is to have an open mind and eventually you will come to your own conclusion that you feel comfortable with and with that comes peace.
Peace and hugs to you xxx
