OK, so I went to my yearly gyno. appt. recently and, of course, she lectures me about my smoking......just like everyone in my family. I suprised myself by telling her that I was ready to stop and she came through with the prescription Chantix. I'm so excited to give it a try, excited to not be breathing hard from changing the sheets on my bed, rather then playing in them, BUT scared to death to get rid of a part of me. I've read and re-read the information pamplet so much that the thought of bad dreams is making me scared, and the possible constipation thing....well, I'm one of those people that have a hard enough time doing my business so the shear thought of something else effecting that, well to be honest...scares me also!! I intially got myself so pumped up for my quit date and now, as time goes by, I'm procrastinating about picking it. I know, for my own health, I have to do it and because I said I would makes me have to.
What about the weight gain?? Will I blow up to a huge blob and eat my addiction out of me.?Will I become so big that I'm unrecognizable??? See, I'm stressed and I haven't even stopped yet! |

I have heard a few not so good things about Chantix, aside from the crazy dreams. There is a lawsuit right now vs. the company who manufactures it claiming it made a guy go postal and kill his neighbors... just something to consider! Do a lot of research!

on the flip side. my step dad has been on chantix and he quit smoking right away...it worked for him and he would probably recommend it to anyone. it does have bad side effects but you dont have to be on it very long either --several months
