I just couldn't even imagine trying to retire in the United States at this point. I am so fed up with the government, high cost of living, price of gas and so many other things that in 2 years when I retire, I am taking off.
At first my wife didn't feel the same way. She's a bit of a homebody, and thought that she would just rather stay here in the states. That is until I took her on the vacation of a lifetime!
We flew into Liberia Airport in the northern region of Costa Rica, then crossed the border up into Nicaragua. We spent a couple weeks cruising around the beaches, and drinking Flor de Cana- the national rum!!!
When we first go there it was planned to just be a trip, but after some time realized it could work as a good place for retirement (well my wife was not sold at first, but she came around!). There seemed to be a lot of like minded folks from both the US, Canada, and even Europe. It seems a lot of people are being attracted to the beautiful beaches and safety of Central America's largest country. For us, it is easily one of the best places to retire for so many reasons. The first being that the place is such a good time!
I can't wait to get back and drink some more of that great rum!!! |
