Bored... nothing better to do... might as well, right? Look at previously posted blog entries to catch up on what Kaya and Vlad have been up to.
Kaya sighed, trying to calm her racing pulse. She walked over to a thick tree and put her hand on its trunk. Her voice was barely audible over the slight breeze, and it sounded like gibberish anyways. The tree shuddered, then bent over, forming a nice little tent. Kaya crawled inside.
Vlad was alone. He didn't sleep much. He didn't need it. Dark elves stayed awake most of the time. So, he sat down in a pile of decaying leaves and thought.
Kaya was certainly an odd character. She hid from the world instead of embracing it... Maybe living in fear meant that she lived peacefully. At least, that's what it seemed like.
But still, she seemed a good companion. At least, for the time being. She seemed sure of her fighting skills, and at least she could do as she was told, as proved by the encounter with the scavens. But still...
Vlad didn't trust her too much. She came to save herself, not because she wanted to. Was she really trustworthy, then?
But the only way she would be able to survive outside of the forest would be with him. He knew the outside world, and it seemed as though she had always lived in the forest. Kaya hadn't known of the orcs, of the war, of the dark elves...
Vlad's mind turned elsewhere. His people... They were tired of being pushed around. They were tired of being catagorized as monsters-
Freaks.
Could he really blame them for joining the orc's campain, then? They had lived in hiding for years, and now...
Birds began to twitter in the branches. Dawn approached. They fluttered from branch to branch, anxious for all others to arise from slumber.
A stirring was heard from inside the tent of branches. Kaya crawled out and stretched. The tree shuddered and righted itself. Vlad was amazed at her powers, even though she was a halfling. Her parentage seemed to have no effect on her abilities. He smiled at her.
"Shall we go?"
Kaya smiled and nodded. "Yeah. Lead the way!"

Great story telling. I haven't read Lord of the Rings (I've seen the movies), played World of Warcraft, or any of those sword and sorcery games but I know one thing: I like your story.
