 story part 15
Damn this is going on long... Sorry I haven't been posting, I had summatives this week... They're over now, though, so I'll try to post more, promise!

Kaya walked with Vlad down the hallway. Her body may have been there, but her mind was elsewhere. Why had Evelinthia given her the flute that she now held in her hand? Was it a mirage? It felt real, and Kaya had heard the wavering note that it produced not too long ago. How could it just be in her imagination if she could see it, feel it, and hear it?

"Are you alright?" Vlad's voice brought Kaya back to reality. "You seem distracted." His face was full of concern for his friend.

"Y-yeah..." said Kaya shakily. "Fine. Just... thinking about things."

"Like what?" Vlad smiled at her. His smile warmed Kaya from the inside out. She had to look away for fear of him seeing her blush.

"Well..." Kaya had to pick her words carefully. She didn't want to tell him exactly what happened between her and Evelinthia. But, nonetheless, she wanted his help. How did they know they could trust a drunk and a mysterious lady? Kaya never trusted anyone before Vlad. Everyone had been a distraction and therefore a hazard. "What kind of person is Evelinthia?"

Vlad looked surprised. "Why? What happened?"

"Nothing!" Kaya said hurridely. "I.... just wanted to know, that's all."

Vlad looked down the hall, deep in thought. He knew that Kaya wasn't telling the truth, but his knowledge ended there. The most he could do was trust that she would tell him more later on. "Well..." he began. "Evelinthia has always been a mystery to me... I don't know much about her, I doubt even Artemis does, and they're married! She doesn't talk about her past, so I don't know anything about that. All I know is that one day she just showed up at the gates. Evelinthia seems to have taken on the role of an observer, she doesn't like to get directly involved in anything... That's about it..." He paused for a moment. "The only other thing I know about her is that she's a magician."

Kaya looked back a Vlad and gave him a curious stare. "A magician?"

Vlad nodded. "I've seen her do magic before. It's amazing! One moment, there could be nothing in her hand, and the next, she'll be holding a diamond or whatever suits her fancy! I wish I could do that..."

Kaya looked down at her feet, mulling over this new information that she had recieved. So Evelinthia was a magician? That explained how she made the flute appear... By magic. But why did she show her magic to Kaya? What was so special about her?

You're back again, MAK. I enjoyed this entry. Kaya and Vlad seem to be getting closer. It's good that they have a magician friend who can conjure up diamonds. I wish I had one.
