I made this part specifically to show the differences of opinions between guys and girls when it comes to love. Hope you like it!
Vlad watched as Kaya dissapeared around the corner. He was suddenly angry with Artemis for sending her away. "What did you do that for?" he asked, not bothering to hide the anger in his voice.
"So we can have a little chat, man to man," he replied. "You like her, 'eh? Well, you sure know how to pick 'em!"
Vlad was embarrased. "Wh-what are you talking about?"
Artemis laughed and clapped him on the back. "You know perfectly well what I'm talking about! So, when did ya first kiss her?"
Vlad looked away. "Well..."
Artemis was shocked. "You mean you haven't yet? Vlad, are you not a man yet?" He led Vlad down the hall, bringing him to the library. It was full of shelves with dusty books on them. Not too many in the dwarven kingdom were adept at reading, so it was almost always empty. "You have to take charge! Don't be afraid! Women want a man who can control both of their lives. If Kaya sees that you can do that, she will fall head over heels for you!"
Vlad thought about it. Artemis was married, he clearly had more experience in love than Vlad. Maybe he was right? Kaya needed a man, and that was exactly what Vlad would be for her. "Yeah... Maybe... But what if you're wrong?"
"Wrong!" Artemis had mock pain in his voice. "My boy, when have I ever been wrong?"
"It would be a shorter list to say when you have been right!" laughed Vlad.
Artemis seemed hurt at first, but soon was laughing along with Vlad. "That's the Vlad I know!"
Kaya walked with Evelinthia in silence. The woman didn't seem to speak much, and that was fine. Kaya really didn't want to talk about anything.
Evelinthia led Kaya to a small room filled with musical instruments. She shut the door behind her and walked to a shelf in the room.
The room had many different sorts of instruments. There was a piano, some instruments made of metals, instruments made of wood, and many others that Kaya didn't know how to describe. Kaya had never even seen many of these instuments before, so she could not name them.
Evelinthia walked back to Kaya carrying what looked like a small wooden tube with a lot of holes in it. "Do you know what it is?" she asked. Kaya shook her head in response. "This is a flute." Evelinthia handed the flute to Kaya. "Play something."
Kaya looked down at the instrument in her hands in disbeleif. "I don't know how..."
"Don't worry about that," replied Evelinthia. "Just play something."
Kaya was confused. Nevertheless, she held the flute in a comfortable position, put it to her pursed lips, and blew. The note seemed to hang in the air, making it waver. Evelinthia closed her eyes and seemed to listen hard. Then, opening her eyes, she smiled. "Keep it," she said.
Kaya looked at Evelinthia with surprise. "Are you sure?"
Evelinthia closed Kaya's fingers around the flute. "Yes." She then returned to the corner where she had found the flute. When she returned, she carried two chairs. Evelinthia put one down for Kaya, then sat down in the other one. "How long have you known Vlad?" she asked.
Kaya felt uncomfortable around Evelinthia. It was almost as though she knew everything about Kaya. She sat down, and kept her eyes on the flute in her hands. "I don't know," she replied. "I guess about a week..."
Evelinthia nodded. "And how long ago did you fall in love with him?"
Now Kaya felt really uncomfortable. "H-how did you know that?"
Evelinthia smiled. "I know. You don't have to be afraid to tell him," she said. "But, if you are afraid, don't tell him with your words."
"I'm not afraid of anything!" said Kaya.
"What about scavens?"
Kaya didn't even glance up from the flute. She didn't want to give Evelinthia any satisfaction.
Evelinthia smiled. "I'm scared of them, too."
Kaya glanced at her, but couldn't keep the gaze. "What should I do...?" Evelinthia was married, maybe she could give her some advice.
"Well," said Evelinthia, leaning back in her chair. "If you are nervous that you might ruin your friendship with Vlad, don't do anything directly. If you do, he might get scared."
"How do I do that?" asked Kaya.
"You just have to hope that fate brings chances for you to take, and see how Vlad reacts."
Kaya nodded. Evelinthia got up and opened the door. "We should find the men, before they find the cellar." She shook her head. "Artemis can drink all night long, and I'm sure he'd teach Vlad how to do the same!"
Kaya laughed and followed Evelinthia out of the room. Maybe she wasn't as bad as Kaya had thought...
