| Do we want more of God? |
|
We say we want more of God, but how much of me does God have? That is a question that our youth pastor James Borja proposed to us at church this Sunday. I thought about it most of today while I was at work. He also asked what type of Christian are we. I forget exactly how he put things, but the way I understood it was basically are we Sunday Christians and sometimes on Wednesday? Do the only time we read the Bible is when we go to church? Do we only pray at church and occasionaly before we eat, unless we sometimes forget then. Do we treat God has a holy santa claus? God, I want this and that and I have been good or will make you a deal and I will be good. Then we want it not now, but yesterday? Well, I fall into that pattern sometimes. I want more of God in my life, but I haven't exactly given him everything. In fact sometimes I don't think I have given him more than 1 or 2% of me. Maybe you feel that way too. So I was thinking how do I change that? I mean we get so use to doing things a certain way. What our pattern is. What our mindset is. How do you change that? You change your mindset. Easy?? Not always because most people have a high RC factor. RC? that means rate of change. We don't like to change because the old way, the "normal" way feels comfortable and it is easy. And even if we change for a bit, we hit a bump or something negative and wham we are back to the old way again. So what do we do? Keep changing your mindset to be able to give all to God. When you fail, go back and keeping doing it again until you raise that percentage up higher and higher so you can get closer to God. God is a God of second chances is what some people say. I think they are wrong. Why? Because he has given me a lot more than just another chance. He keeps forgiving me and allowing me to make my mistakes and then when I realize it and ask to come back, no matter how foolish I have been, He always says Yes and puts it as far as the East is from the West. Some people have asked even if someone has killed someone God will forgive? The answer is again yes. If you truly repent God will forgive. Maybe this is why I don't give all. Because I think well He will forgive me anyway, but then I have to remember what all God can do with me and how much of that I will miss if I keep putting off growing closer to Him. So tonight I will try and keep trying until I am successful to change some things in my life. Some things you already know if you have read some of my blogs or my comments on other people blogs. I hope you will join me in this endeavor, but not for me. For you. Because this is something between you and God. No one but you and God will know how successful you are, when you slip, how many times you ask for forgiveness. I will not ask how you are doing, because I do not matter, God does. But if you want me to pray with or for you then send me an email because it is no one elses business if you want or need prayer. However if there is something you want everyone to help you pray for, then by all means let us all know. If you have read all this I thank you because it is quite long. Last, but not least I do have one more thing to say and remind you of. Jesus Loves You and so do I. Have a blessed day and week.
