| 15 year olds should act and dress like 15 year old

I just have to vent about Miley Cyrus. She just had an interview with 17 magazine saying how she dated Nick Jonas for 2 years.. ('he was her 24/7') My question to that is being that shes only 15 years old.... how could he be her 24/7 from the ages of 12 to 14!?!? She talks about how she changed her life for him and she lost 'who she was'.... how do you know who you are at 12 or 13 years old! you dont! you are only a child. Not to mention the fact that all of these 'teen queens' are going to award shows and such dressed in mini dresses with four inch heels and smokey eye makeup. I'm sorry, maybe my parents were a little too strict, but 15 year olds should not wear 4 in heels. They dont need to look like their 18-20 when they are not. They should be living their lives like normal teenagers.
Parents wonder why there are so many youth pregnancies, early sex, and drug use. If you expose your kids to those kinds of things and make them think and act like they are in their late teens (18/19) or early 20's, they are going to be acting and doing things that people that age do. Dont let your kids watch Gossip Girl if they are too young. Dont get me wrong I love that show...but I am 21 years old... old enough to watch people having sex and talk about condoms breaking...but a little kid is obviously not ready and is soon going to start thinking that those kinds of activities are ok. Gossip Girl is not to blame.. miley cyrus...not really to blame. Parents and the media. We need to be conserving kids childhoods as much as possilbe. Let them be kids. Let them grown up in normal time. The media is going to be what it is, but its the parents responsibility to make sure kids are watching age appropriate things.
Ah. Maybe I am too riled up, I just hate seeing kids not acting or looking like kids! |

I have to agree with you, as the mother of 3 girls, I really monitor what they watch, hear and wear. Letting them listen to songs like LOW is NOT okay! Little girls are being sexualized at a very young age, from the way they are taught to dance, what they listen to, their role models and what they wear, it is out of hand...definatly.
The blame for this though lies solely on the parents, not just of the "regular" kids but of the kids in the media, making money is not more important than having a childhood, just look at what is happening to those girls pushed too far too fast! It's the parent's fault....quit being lazy and WORK with your kids, it's not all fun and games, it is WORK to raise kids, sheesh, You should have to get a license or something....

I totally agree with you. I'm 22 years old and I once heard a conversation between two girls about 12. A conversation which I would never have at MY AGE. She said that she was hanging out and kissing with some boy and she don't know how to say it to her boyfriend...and she was sooo happy about that fact. I mean, what on earth is going on with kids today? Am I so old to noticed that? Maybe the notion "normal" and "average" has changed? Now, raising a kid must be like climbing up Mont Everest.
