Rush Limbaugh, A Con Artist's Ego

Vanity Fair has a feature on the king of talk radio that includes a companion piece with these quotes:

1. “There is no conclusive proof that nicotine’s addictive… And the same thing with cigarettes causing emphysema, lung cancer, heart disease.”

2. “Columbus saved the Indians from themselves.”

3. “He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act… This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.”

4. “[African Americans] are twelve percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

5. “Kurt Cobain was, ladies and gentlemen, a worthless shred of human debris.”

6. “Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.”

7. “We are a growing country and everybody needs energy! We’re not going to stay the United States if we start reducing energy usage. Conservation is not the answer.”

8. To a black caller: “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.”

9. On torture at Abu Ghraib: “This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation. And we’re going to ruin people’s lives over it, and we’re going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I’m talking about people having a good time, these people-you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of need to blow some team off?”

10. “Screw the world. Do you really think we ought to govern ourselves based on what the world thinks of us?”

Well, I used to listen to him. I heard his comment about the bone in the nose and Michael J. Fox, so it could very well be that he said the other things. Limbaugh's commentating has deteriorated over the years, and it comes close to being something like a Jerry Springer show over the radio. He just got to crazy for my blood. Always spent the day feeling like crap after listening to his doom and gloom. I quit listening about a year ago, and, realized how much more upbeat I felt avoiding his show. Much to crazy and negative for this old lady.

Rush is a very negative influence on this country. I find his views offensive. I believe he said everything above. I have never liked this man and after watching him this morning on the Today show it definitely is clear to me he is bad for our country. He stirs up anger in people which accomplishes nothing. I am in total agreement with the doom and gloom. I avoid those conversations in my life and do not now nor ever intend to listen to that from anyone. Conservative Republicans have a right to their views, however they seem eager to push those views on everyone, and I personally find them offensive. Coming together as a country is never going to happen as long as people like Rush are around. Personally he scares me, he keeps hate and anger going strong. Yet people keep listening, how sad is that?

Isn't this the mag who's editor is Graydon Carter, who was report AWOL yesterday 10-23, that is cutting staff. Maybe they are, or were, trying to boost their lacking sales and story substance on the shirt tail of Rush....Graydon signifies the true core of the democrats - send someone else to do the dirty work and blame it on anyone but take no responsibility for own actions....

Tisk Tisk Tisk - feel sorry for you "left wing haters" - I bet you miss Bush - oops you still blame him for the Anointed ones mistakes and lack of back bone....

What's funny is no one holds Obama on a ridiculously high pedestal except for conservatives. Liberals and democrats don't. Weird.

I feel I'm more than entitled to blame Bush for what's going on. He was in charge for 8 years. Obama has been in charge for less than 1. If he could fix 8 years worth of idiocy in less than a year, I really WOULD put him on a pedestal.

Rush says crazier things everyday because he sees the political shift in the country, realizes he's losing ground, and he's going to do whatever he can to keep ratings up before he gets canned. If his show was a sitcom, it'd have a long-lost cousin, a new baby, and maybe an evil twin or two. He's on the brink of jumping the shark. I find his desperate shock jock blather to be amusing now. He doesn't have enough credibility to be viewed as a political commentator. He's like Mancow, Howard Stern, and Don Imus except they occasionally have redeeming qualities.
