In a meeting the other day, I said "we need to make sure out outputs are aligned with the outcomes articulated in the project document, otherwise, we run the risk of failure to obtain buy-in from major stakeholders".
Translation: we need to make sure we do what we said we would do or we might piss people off.
At home, a couple of nights later, I made my boyfriend draw a matrix to analyse the pros and cons of applying for a new job.
WHAT IS GOING ON???
Seriously, I used to be a normal person (a performing team member). I used to use normal words (articulations), and have normal thoughts (brain dumps). I start working on this project, and suddenly I've become one of those loathsome management types (programme managers). I'll be wearing a pin striped suit with red braces soon. The horror (sub-optimal outcome).
I guess using all that language is a way of human bonding (stakeholder management). If we're all using it in my team (business unit), we all know what we're talking about (articulating). But it's all very silly (not aligned with objectives), because all we're doing is sounding like pretentious wankers, when fundamentally all we are trying to do is get a bunch of people to agree to do some stuff. Perhaps talking like that allows us to feel that what we're doing (delivering) has some merit (identifiable benefits) and that we aren't just talking (articulating) about it.
Still, what a load of bollocks. What's management speak for "bollocks", anyone?

You need to alter your paradigm and rebrand the product.. instead of thinking of it as "bollocks" think of it as proactively seeking out alternative realities... or something
