A reply i posted and decided to turn into a blog
I agree that the children of today are little hooligans. But at the same time look at the 60's and 70's whole love drug rock and roll phenomenon... I dont think it really matters how you raise yourr kids in general when it comes to the forms of punishment. I really feel it is more about consistancy, and educating your children when it comes to sex, drugs, smokeing, alcohol and other such things.

It is hard when the goverments are now in our homes telling us how to raise our children. The sad thing is that many children have been abused, some might think it as justified, but the sad fact is that alot of it wasn't. There is a huge difference between punishing your child and beating them senceless... but where is that line? No one really knows and as a result, our society has decided to frown upon all of it... so what did that leave parents with? Yelling and screaming and such things as that, and it tires you, so you give up... and your child is either no better off or now apparently emotionally damaged because of getting screamed at. So now this is a big social no-no passed down upon our own societies.

Now that my own age group is getting to the point that we are having kids we are all sort of looking at it like... Well to hell with that! If my kid curses they are still gonna get the soap!.... So we really haven't accomplished anything :S...

in the end i think everything comes down into generations. this generation of kids that have just gone through life is the product of adults who lived through the 70's and lived a life all about freedom of exspression, where as the next comming of parents were either too young to go through this phase or too old. So they were raised differently and discovered themselves in a different way, so all the parents that had kids in the 80's punished thier children in a different way then the new age parenting of the late 90's and early 2000's. So in a result all these untested and new parenting techniques have left us with a batch of brats. and the newer cycle of children born over the next few years and come into age in 2010-2020 will probably be less bratty and less about weird psycho emo crap that are in the kids/teens of today. I am honestly pegging it right now, that in about ten years from now we will see a huge decline in teenage drama and a huge increase in stupid adults. its a never ending cycle of two generation trends.... if that makes any sence.

somehow kids today have just lost respect for their parents, which is why they seem to struggle so hard to control them anymore, the main reasons my dad had control of me was pure fear of disapointing him and letting him down, i rarely see kids with that kind of consideration for their family, although i guess things may be a little different there than here in the UK, but its a new craze in the UK apparently to disrespect your parents and not give a damn about how hard they work or how much they feel or care x
nice post honey

see i started ranting again he he

Children here in Canada Disrespect everyone. Not just thier parents but people that they meet in society as well. I really believe that consistancy is key and that parents are 'letting' thier kids disrespect them and are not punishing them for it. so as a result they think that this is a respectable behavior, its a crazy mad cycle.
