The guy I bought the van from was really cool. I found the van on Craigslist. Originally he wanted $600 for it, but then he came down to $480 when he found out that was all I could come up with. We met at Northgate Mall. He led me around the van to show me the new parts he had put on, and I took it for a quick drive around the parking lot.
He showed me the tricks to locking and unlocking the various doors. Old Girl (that's the name of my van) is from 1982, so there can be a lot of finessing to get her to cooperate. :-)
He gave me his number and said to call him if I needed anything. I did the next day when the sliding door refused to shut. We met up again at the Northgate Mall, and he showed me how to do it. Then he made me practice a few times to make sure I had the hang of it.
Thanks to this guy's generosity and patience, I have a place to live now. He even left me his lucky parrot!
