Drowning

Drowning

To think that I am falling in,
Sinking into the darkened waters.
My mind pleads help and my vision goes,
Unconsciousness finally takes its hold

Lungs burn for oxygen
And my mind gives up.
On reflex I take a watery breath,
I realize what mistake

Falling deeper into darkness
I close my eyes, silently pray,
Say goodbye to my family, my friends,
They will never hear me speak again.
