Car Crash

Metal and metal clash at high speeds,
People scream and are thrown dangerously
Forward. Glass shatters, metal crumples,
And on-lookers stare in grim amazement.
Leading to the scene of the crash are skid
Marks, pieces of metal and shattered glass
Litter the road, and sirens fill the suddenly
Loud night with lights flashing red and blue.
People are pulled from the totaled cars with
Care, firefighters prepare hoses to douse the cars
With water. Smoke spirals upward in the dark
Night and everyone who's been watching amazed
Jump back as both cars catch fire. The blaze
Creates more smoke and the firefighters quickly
Go to work putting out the two fires, leaving
Them wet and the last tendrils of remaining smoke
Continuing to spiral upwards in the quieting night.
People slowly return to their homes and police
Get to work receiving information about the incident,
Taking care to avoid the smoking cars behind them.
