First off, allow me to give you a little background. Generally a customer will read me the VIN number to the vehicle and that number will automatically pull up the year, make and model of the car they're driving. Once, we complete the policy we send them ID cards with includes all the basics like their name, address, and the VIN number to the car.
PROBLEM: Customer calls up and tells us that we have the wrong car on her policy. It says "Toyota Camry" and she drives a "Toyota Corolla." Now, you and I both know that we put in the VIN number and the rest pulls up. Which indicates to me, that she gave us the wrong VIN number. But not being one to be judgmental I'll take her on her word and assume some idiot copied a number wrong, so I ask her, what her actual VIN number is.
SOLUTION: She reads me the VIN number of what it "should" be. Same problem. Pulls up the wrong vehicle again. At this point I'm starting to think there is something wrong with the computer. Why is it pulling up the wrong car? She re-read me the VIN number and it's still pulling up the wrong vehicle. Well, this genius was reading the VIN number off the cards we sent her! No wonder it's not right!! If the company sent you the wrong info, don't fuckin read it back to them and claim that that is the RIGHT information!
MORAL OF THE STORY: It's like going to a bowling alley and renting shoes. Upon trying them on, you realize they don't fit. When the guy behind the counter asks for your shoe size, you check the bowling shoes he just handed you and read THAT size to him! What the hell do you think you're gonna get this time?? Perhaps a different color shoe, but I guarantee you're gonna have the same problem! |
