| Earthquake! |

There was an earthquake today in China! Don't worry everyone, I am okay. (I know you were really worried!) The only reason I knew there was a quake, actually, was because in the afternoon there was a large group of people gathered outside the building. We are only on the 3rd floor so we heard the people talking outside, something about an earthquake!
And sure enough...
At first I was disappointed that I didn't even get to feel a little shake, which would have been a little bit exciting. But now, seeing the aftermath... I was lucky nothing happened here in Shanghai. It is so sad...so many people have died... http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/13/world/asia/13scene.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin This article made me so sad, and there are so many more just like it...
Asia's been hit pretty hard lately, first with the Myanmar cyclone, and now with this earthquake. But I guess the US was hit pretty hard with tornadoes recently as well.
Surprising fact, but this wasn't the first time I was in a foreign country when an earthquake struck! I was in Mexico back in probably 2003 or 2004 (I'm not too sure the date, maybe earlier) when I was laying on a bed watching tv with my friend Erika, and the fan by the bed started to shake, then we felt the bed shake, and sure enough, it was an earthquake! That's all I felt though, because the epicenter was located far away from us. What are the odds though?!?!
My thoughts and prayers go out with all the others around the world to all those affected by this disaster. The paper today said over 12,000 confirmed dead, with almost 8,000 still missing......
