 Every Moment Is Precious.
How often do we choose to see the world through the eyes of an acromat, in grey tones instead the hues of a rainbow? How often do we turn a deaf ear to the sweet melodies of life, choosing to only hear the sombre beat of a bass drum? Sadly, for most the answer is all too often.

I wonder how some people can hear anything good come into their lives when their words, thoughts and/or tears of bitterness are so loud. They are so busy questioning 'Why me?', hanging onto the past, painful memories, laying blame, mouthing words of how they have been wronged that they forget to live. They forget to appreciate all the good things in their life, both past and present--so many precious moments can be lost because we fail to be still and listen, to see.

I am not wishing to trivialize anyone's trials, tribulations, hurts and worries; I know all too well how life can place obstacles on our path through life, but sometimes we are so busy paying attention to those obstacles that we fail to take note of the beauty lining that life path and all too soon it is gone from our sight or grasp. Find the beauty in your life and let that be the focus--be it a child's laugh, a flower, a book, a hobby, a phone conversation with a friend or a simple text message, listening to a song, sharing a meal with family or friends; it is the little things that make up the big picture. Life, make the most of it before it is whisked away in a blink of an eye. We only live once--live gloriously, live with every breath, live with brilliance.

Every moment is precious.

One of my precious moments--Christian [When Love Is Lost To Death] and I after an early morning swim.

Thanks EasyToSay. I needed to remind myself as well. ;o)

I was amazed how hard it was to post the photo. Not that I found it technically difficult, just jealously guarded the moment captured in the photo. :o)

Oh, and I rated it a five.

What a nice post, I agree that we should concentrate on things like "a child's laugh, a flower, a book, a hobby, a phone conversation with a friend or a simple text message, listening to a song, sharing a meal with family or friends" -- but I'd like to ask people what it is about these things that makes them make us happy. When I hear a kid laugh, I can't help but laugh along. Ever wondered why that is? What do we hear in those sounds that we don't in adult laughter?...food for thought...

Thanks for the comment Dove. :o)

InShortAKaramazov: I'm guessing that it is the innocence that we attach to children that makes a child's laugh bring out the more emotive side of us and harken us back to our own childhoods when things seemed much simpler, innocent and free. Personally, I find nearly all laughter infectious. ;o) Thanks for the comment. :o)

You are absolutely right. There IS beauty to see and experience in all things. Sometime we do forget. I am certainly guilty at times. Your light has been missed. Glad to see you here again. xo

I learned to appreciate that term when my friend died.
So now whenever I work, I work my hardest.
Whenever I cry for myself, I think about how lucky I am to be alive.

Your post brightened my day, thanks!

You two made such a gorgeous couple. I love your attitude towards life, you have every reason to be bitter yet you are upbeat and positive about everything around you. ^-^

You are such an inspiration and a good writer. You made me think in terms of the little things at this moment. I get fixated sometimes on things that don't matter. I hope you are feeling better.

Bitterness and desensitized can take a toll on the very soul that God gave us I love your optimism it brings in hope to those that need it but also to those who have seen way too much in their life it is quite hard to even imagine life without sin...Linkin Park sang it for me "What I've Done" and I am glad that music can remind us that we were all once innocent and that turning back is simple....Just Do It<----NIKE Logo

This blog makes me sit and think. I am so filled with negativity ALL of the time and I never focus on ANYTHING good. I'm filled with worry, misery and all of the reasons I hate my life. Thank you for this beautiful post and know that your words just might help so many, including me if I take the advice as I should! Take care of yourself.

"A man's plight is only as desperate as he wills it to be." - Abraham Lincoln

My father once told me, 'All things in moderation'. You're right; while not ignoring nor downplaying the struggles of life, we must also avoid fixating upon them, as well. When God closes a door, He opens a window! The door is easy to see; look for the window and acknowledge it, too. For instance - as my vision has deteriorated over the last few years, my hearing was actually getting more acute. I couldn't tell because there was fluid built up in them, but now that that's been taken care of, I can really appreciate the change! As a musician, I'd MUCH rather go blind than deaf! So when God started allowing the door of vision to be blown shut, He was sure to open a window into a world He knew I loved! Will I save my vision? I dunno... but whatever comes, I'm glad for every day I get, be it struggling or cruising. Get well soon, dear.

U are so right. I am very thankful to God for making me come to Thoughts and introducing me to good people like you. That morning I prayed to God for two things--that I learn to love Him better and also know his love. Peace! Get well soon!

This post is beautiful! I wish there were words that I could say to pay this justice, but I think the picture captures it ALL. Thank you for sharing. You are such a beautiful and strong individual.
