 FACEBOOK Status or DISCUSSION???
So I posted this as my status:

"U ask Y do we love when love hates us? But it doesnt. SOME of us just dont LOVE OURSELVES enough 2 do better even tho we KNOW better! Think about it!"

And someone commented, so I responed:

PERSON 1: "but what if you love yourself enough to do better but you love someone else even more than you love yourself(which is usually the definition of true love, loving someone else more than you love yourself) to the point that you are willing to sacrifice yourself if it means you can be with that person...."

MY RESPONSE:
"hear you Rasheen, and that's pretty much the way most people look at it. I did at one point. However loving someone more than you love yourself leaves something to be desired. If you only "self-sacrifice," cater to you lovers every whim despite the consequences, or let them run you, you can essentially destroy yourself. (not to go all biblical b/... Read Morec I'm not exactly "Religious" although spiritual.) The bible says love is patient, love is kind and so on....but that's also the type of love you should have for yourself.

It's like, how can you insist on taking care of someone who's sick while you're sick yourself. You have to take care of you first, in order to be strong enough to take care for another person. Especially if they're as sick or worse off then you.

If making someone happy makes you happy, then fine. BUT are you truly happy if you are lacking the things you desire from them. To simply be with someone for love is the logic that presents it's self in movies/books.

Love unfortunately is never equal although it can be close, fulfilling, and healthy. So your partner can never love you in the same way you love them. But they should have a certain level of love (& respect) for you, so that if you are self sacrificing, you won’t lose sight of yourself. True love empowers and compliments. It doesn’t complete you, meaning if they walk away you won’t drop dead. Lol. Okay I’m rapping. But yea that’s kind of how I see it to sum it all up."

So I'm basically posting a blog to hear YOUR THOUGHTS....Any Takers???

Why thank you :) I guess ultimately it'll always be open to interpretation since everyone sees things differently....*shrugs shoulders*....

Chasingtime47 and Ellie,

Thank you both for the comments. I'd like to think it does start with loving yourself and TRULY is about a balance...as most things are.
