 Mei Baojiu
Mei Baojiu (son of Mei Lanfang) attended one of the rehearsal session for the next opera performance for his troup, scheduled for performance in early 2008.

He was interviewed regarding critics on Leon's latest still. Mei admitted that the result of the still is not as satifactory, but clarified that the end-result of the makeup is not Leon's fault. It's the fault of the make-up artiste. Mei stated that dan makeup in Peking opera is very much different from ordinary makeup where the makeup artistes need to know how to do it right for the best result.

Mei stated that changes have been made and the final result is now very satisfactory.

Mei commended Leon for being a very keen learner, and very intelligent, and a humble man. Mei stated that because Leon is such a keen learner, he and many other expert Peking opera artistes are very wiling to teach him no matter what it takes. He also stated that Leon is fast to grasp the technique.

Mei is convinced that Leon is his right choice to portray the late Mei Lanfang as he possesses many similar characteristics from his father -- shy, quiet, charismatic, humble, and respectful to the elder -- a quality he finds rare in today's world.
