I think part of the foul disposition of the police might lie in that, as an entity, they're isolated in some tangible ways from the rest of society. Breeds an 'us' and 'them' mindset. Doesn't this explain so many things?

This is all so true...
I used to work for a place that used to send memos filled with unintelligible corporate mumbo-jumbo, mostly catch-phrases, cliches, and sports-inspired, rah-rah-sis-boom-bah, pep rally crap. We figured it all obfuscated the fact that we really weren't getting a raise.

Bill always struck me as a sort of irresponsible teenager who never grew up. Intellectually, he WAS a Rhodes Scholar, after all...but, in the end, he was always the teenager in the borrowed pickup truck, scheming to score some kind of tawdry sex act for himself from some willing young girl.
Now, the big problem with the Bush Administration's 'Accountability'. The unconscionable lack of it, to be sure...

I remember back in high school, my mom took me to her hairdresser. He did great work...I also think she did it to break down a teenage tendency to male chauvinism. Expand my horizons, so to speak.
Whenever I came in, he'd make a fuss. "My day is made! I get to work on THIS head of hair!"
Forgive me if I don't share your enthusiasm. I mourn for what's past... :D

I personally think the election process is WAY too long here...but I think the higher the stakes, the longer it goes. After all, the American people need an alternative to the activities of Britney Spears 24/7.
All of these characters I mention (with two exceptions, by the way) not only exist, but prosper, in my alternate universe... :D
