| Barbie Fife to the Rescue!

Well, the quadrenial meeting of the National Association of Plushbottoms, Ecclesiastical Maniacs, Ignoramuses, and Delusionals, held up in the Twin Cities, has passed. It seemed to me that there was little more real excitement there than at open mike night at the theater at my county college. I do know that Rudywulf did get a brief rise on the Viagrameter, offering his usual menu of sanctimoniousness and snark, but for the most part, it seemed kind of listless, compared to other elephantine hate-ins we've seen in the past. Like the Orwellian Goldstein-spew at Hillary back in 1992.
After all the mindless bashing of Obama, the nominee got up and made a conciliatory speech. How Quaint. Already a signpost to the kultur of a future McCain Administration (so described by my sister as 'Weekend at McBernie's'). Meanwhile, so many questions went through my mind. How can a man who has no idea of how many houses he owns possibly have any understanding of a young, single mother having to choose between buying gas for the car, or groceries for the kitchen table? How can a man who pledged to continue his predecessor's policies- even those he vigorously opposed- position himself as a 'maverick'? How can a man who made so much of his opponent's inexperience choose a glorified parking meter attendant as his running mate?
Oh, alright. She's a state Governor. Of a state that has a larger population of moose than of humans.

Yesterday, a report came out stating that the unemployment rate is up to 6.1%. This has administration officials flabbergasted; it's much higher than they had estimated it would be. Of course, the National Association of Boorish, Narcissistic Elephants has a remedy for all of this: sign your kid up for hockey, and join the PTA.

They all carped about how Barack Obama had never run anything. These are the people who gave us the current occupant, who had run every business ever bequeathed unto him into the ground, with the exception of one, in which he hadn't the requisite time to do so (said baseball franchise is currently being mismanaged with gusto by his friend, Tom Hicks). Hey, folks, my cat could've made a better President than the current occupant. But, Barack Obama has never run anything. Indeed. Jack Kennedy never ran anything either.
Now, if you look at the past eight years, you'd come to the conclusion that the current occupant couldn't have mismanaged our great nation any more efficiently if he had actually tried to do so. Do you really think that this is lost on a great many voters?

Something to think about: if anything should happen, God forbid, to Barack Obama, in would step Joe Biden. A man of thirty-six years experience working in this government; a man who's gotten to know foreign potentates, as well as having served the domestic ones. They talk about experience: well, here it is!
If anything should happen, God forbid, to John McCain, in would step...uh...Vice-President Barbie Fife, the glorified Meter Maid who stepped in shit and became governor of her state filled with moose. That's right. Barbie Fife.
Barbie Fife would ascend to the world stage, where she would share space with the likes of Hu Jintao. Ahmadinejad. Vladimir Putin. Well, of course, you know, if worse comes to worse, she can get them tickets to the high school basketball game. THESE foreign potentates would be confronted by a person who, as it turns out, is little more than a human interest story, without substance of even the most basic variety.

Great blog! I agree with everything you said. Also, I believe the rumors that say that Trig is Bristol's baby and not Sarah's.. Republicans are just dirty enough to borrow and use their grandchild to gain votes....

The GOP has nothing to offer. NOTHING. There is no program, whatsoever. They have no answer to any of the problems in society today, other than the thesis that religious repression would rid same of much of it. There's no energy policy; they figure the status quo seems to be working out fine, so long as the market doesn't overly fluctuate. They figure the party racists and xenophobes could go on and yell and scream about illegal immigration; as long as the rank and file of the American public don't put two and two together to come to understand that the money end of the party benefits financially from having them here. No plan. No answers. They're strategy is to swift boat and demonize the opposition and frighten the stupid and the gullible and the mindless in the choir, and hope that the swingers buy into Governor Barbie Fife.
I'm ashamed of sharing this country with the GOP and its adherents.

I know what you mean. How in the world can we trust someone to run the country that doesn't even know how many houses he owns??? He thinks the economy is progressing well..what's it gonna take???
