Of the Miracles of Mohamed prayer and peace upon him

Knowing the plot to kill him

After the Muslims winning in the battle of Badr where seventy disbelievers were killed and seventy injured.  Safwan Ibn Omiya, one of Makah’s richest men and Omir Ibn Wahb sate by the Hejr in Makah talking.  Omir was one of those who used to hurt Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and his companions when they were in Makah.  His son Wahb Ibn Omir was taken prisoner in the battle of Badr.

They talked about the battle of Badr and their losses.  Omir said to Safwan: If it was not for a debt I can not pay and children who will suffer after me, I would ride to kill Mohamed; they also have my son prisoner in their hands.  Safwan took the chance and said: I shall pay your debt and bring your children up with my children, and they will never go without any thing I can get for them.

Omir said: Keep this between you and me. Safwan said: I will.

Omir had his sword sharpened and poisoned, and then he went to Medina.  When he was at the mosque’s door sitting his camel down, Omar Ibn El-Khatab saw him, he said: This is that dog, Omir the enemy of Allah.  He would not come except to do something evil.  Omar went to Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and said: “Allah’s prophet, here is Allah’s enemy Omir, he came carrying his sword”.  He said: “Let him come in to me”.  He went to Omir and held him by his sword belt and told some Muslims to go to Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and site with him, and to be weary of this wicked man, for he can not be trusted. Then he took Omir in.

When Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him saw Omar Holding Omir with his sword belt around his neck he said: “Let him go Omar, come near me Omir”.   He went close and said: “Good morning”.  The prophet prayer and peace upon him said: “Allah blessed us with a greeting better than yours Omir; Salam (Peace) is the greeting of the people of Paradise”.  Then he said: “What brought you Omir?”  He said: The prisoner in your hands.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “what about this sword tied to your neck?” He said: “Useless sword, they did not help us”.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Tell me the truth, what brought you?”  He said: “I came only for this reason”

Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “But you sate with Safwan Ibn Omiya in Hejr, and you remembered the people killed in Badr, and then you said: “If it was not for my debt and children, I would go to kill me, and Safwan took the responsibility for your debt and children so that you kill me, but Allah will prevent you from doing this”.

Omir said: “I testify that you are Allah’s messenger.  We did not believe that you receive messages from Heaven, and the revelations you had, but this was witnessed only by myself and Safwan, by Allah I know that only Allah could have told you, so thanks to Allah who guided me to Islam and brought me this way.  Then he testified the testimony of Islam.  Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Teach your brother about his Religion, let him read the Quran, and let his prisoner go free”

Safwan used to tell people in Makah to wait to hear good news within days, which will make you forget what happened in Badr.  He used to ask the travelers about Omir, until one of them told his about his Islam, then Safwan swore an oath never to speak to or help him.

Omir returned to Makah and stayed there telling people about Islam and many people embraced Islam through him.       (Ibn Hesham)

We see that Allah the Highest informed His messenger prayer and peace upon him about the conversation that took place in secret between two of the leaders of the disbelievers, and also of the intentions of Omir.  This knowledge proved to Omir the true prophecy of Mohamed prayer and peace upon him.

May Allah’s prayer and peace be upon our prophet and messenger Mohamed, and upon his family and companions.
