Today is the twenty year anniversary of Black Monday , the infamous stock market crash . Then as now we rely on the U.S. markets to be both strong and stable . The recent sub prime mortgage crisis has demonstrated this once again . We are told that our economies are stronger and more cautious than they were in '87 . Back in the 80's greed is good was the catchcry . We may not say it anymore but you only have to look around at the levels of personal debt and the numbers of people getting plastic to see we still love material excess .
We want it all and we want it yesterday .
