A chip on the shoulder .
Japan is in our Southern Ocean continuing the slaughter of whales in the name of  ' scientific research ' . They claim that eating whale meat is a fundamental part of the Japanese culture . Yet why do they attempt to justify this illegal slaughter as science if they claim the eating of cetaceans is a cultural right . Our government plays stupid and cowardly diplomatic games . What they should do is expel the Japanese embassy staff from Australia . You are not welcome here anymore . I can't help but feel that perhaps the Japanese have a grudge against us Australians .  As former and defeated enemies I do not think this is a stretch of the imagination .  Once , us westerners were considered barbarians by the Japanese . Gaijin , cowardly , unrefined and without honour . They seriously underestimated us . We have provided a safe and beautiful place for people from all over the world to come and live . Study , work , raise a family .  Our society is a very long way from perfect but is a damn sight safer than many other places on this planet . So it is hard to take being branded a racist by ignorant Japanese who defy international laws and murder these noble creatures . They are nothing more than pirates and in a bygone era would have been strung up by the neck ! I once had a sarariman apologize profusely to me for what he saw as his nations' gross and shameful racist attitudes . Admittedly he had been drinking , but I still felt it came from the heart .
No understanding or accord came from slinging accusations and making shouty demands of governments . A total ban on all whaling with very serious  sanctions and other penalties that actually hurt the perpetrators is  required .
