Hi. My name is Kayleigh and I constantly call myself a writer without doing the actual writing part. People will ask, 'are you an artist?' and I'll reply pompously, "no, I'm a writer." But I don't write. I like the idea of writing, I know that I'm fairly good at it; I can construct full sentences and spell better than most. And I like to read, even though I don't do enough of that either. But I'm sick of StumbleUpon stumbling me across websites on how to be a good writer with the no. 1 rule always being "write constantly, never stop, always, always, always write. Don't even let go of your pen, always keep a notebook around, just write and write and write" and I go, "yeah!" and then my notebook sits there, empty. But no more will you make a fool of me, StumbleUpon! You've stumbled me to thoughts.com so now I am here, writing! Imagine the possibilities!
I guess the reason that I always give up on it is because, just like everyone else, my first writings are total crap. I believe that writing is an irrepressable urge for people who enjoy and express with words, but when it builds up inside for too long without a release, the first words that come out are so melodramatic, self-praising, -loathing, and/or -fish. But I guess the only way around this stage is through it, so just bear with me and we'll hope for the best (See, I already write like I have readers!!) So I will try my hand at a blog and see how it goes. Stay tuned.

The only time I really push myself to write is when I have a deadline. That is why I always delay a contract with the publisher. It gives you more time to research...and as my writing is not my source for income (although it is nice every once and a while), I can tell them I will get to it...when I get to it. A journal is fun though. It helps arrange your thoughts and put them down in some semblance of order. I vary my writing...depending on what inspires me..or irritates me. Sometimes I share about my faith..or apologetics...sometimes politics...sometimes about my two incredible grandchildren. I am writing a book called the "Volunteer Factor"...due...well, whenever I finish. Keep up the good work... I may be writing to you for your autograph on your first book!!

This is a great place to empty your head. That is what I do. Don't judge what you write, just enjoy the process.
