My nanna is 90 years young. She lives in the state of Queensland at home with her husband, who is not my biological grandfather. She is an amazing woman, and is fiercely independant with all her activities of daily living.

Her husband has always been extremely tight with their finances... for many years she has not even been 'allowed' to buy a magazine or newspaper. Putting it bluntly.... he is a 'tightarse", amongst a few other things.

During their long marriage there have been issues which until now, I have been totally unaware of. He is now exibiting very early signs of dementia.... and my nanna is now and perhaps for a very long time, been feeling totally isolated from her family and friends.

Last week my nanna took  a deliberate overdose of prescription medications. Physically she will recover but emotionally.....

With every phone call I receive the situation seems to get worse and worse.

Being so far away from her right now.... I feel so totally helpless.

It's sad when that is where you are at the end of your life...it sort of diminishes all that you have achieved and accomplished....poor woman...I will keep her in good thoughts, Kaybee.

I'm so sorry Kaybee. That's so sad. Sometimes the cycle of life angers me - sometimes living a long life means losing so much of what made life worth living in the first place. Great song choice.
