 My simple message....

On this day.... eight years ago the world changed forever.
I remember being at a friends place.
A group of good friends celebrating the news that one of us was pregnant.
September 11th, 2001.
Sadly as a new life began..... so many ended.

Master 9 was only a toddler at the time.
Miss 7 wasn't even a glint in my eye back then.
I remember sitting together watching the television.
All day, every single television channel replayed the same,
horrifying images over, and over, and over again.
The two hijacked planes hitting the twin towers and then,
both towers collapsing into dust.
Beyond horrific to watch and yet....
too unbelievable to look away.

There is much I could write about today but instead....
my message is simply this.
To those here at 'thoughts' in the USA,
many whom I truly think of as friends....
the world remembers you today.

Australia remembers you.

This Aussie remembers you....
and sends you all my thoughts, love and hugs.

xoxo

You know, Kaybee...I was in New York today...and I went to Ellis Island and saw the Statue of Liberty...I live in New Jersey and I go to NY frequently, but I hadn't gone to see Miss Liberty in a long time...there were huge crowds of people there from all over the world....it was touching...and on my way home, I passed the spot on the highway that has the illuminated spotlights that commemorate the towers....funny to come home and read this lovely tribute from an Aussie friend...thank you so much!

On 9/11 I was heading home in the N.East and was stuck in traffic in Washington,D.C.
Soon military and unmarked Govt. vechicles were racing around us. I then turned on the radio and learned what had happened to the Pentagon in D.C.(and saw the smoke rising) and the Towers in N.Y. I admit I was a little scared not knowing if more was coming. Later that day I passed the burning rubble of the Towers, that just two days before I had seen in their shining glory. It sticks today, like it was just yesterday. Thanks KB for your remembrance.

I think it's safe to say everyone can remember where the were when 9/11. It's touching to hear that the Aussies remember just as well as us Americans. I was in my first hour class my junior year of High School...Spanish 3. haha. And the rest of the day we just sat in our classes and watched the news. No lessons were given.

Thank you for this post, Karen.

That was touching, it's amazing how one event shook the world. I will always remember that day as well because I was in such disbelief.

Thank you for a touching tribute! It's amazing how one event leaves us all remembering the exact place that we were. I was a Junior in high school in my English Class. The rest of the day we sat glued to the tv's with the option of going home and being with our family. Thank you for this once again.
