| Izzy has arrived!! |
Well I'm about 4 days late but as you know, Izabella Gloria Renae was born on Thursday October 29th at 8:59 pm. Correction to Tony's blog because I wrote it doped up on whatever was shot in my back....she was 6 lbs 1 oz and 18 inches long.
I went to the doc on Thursday for my usual twice a week NST (non-stress test) where they checked her heart rate to make sure it has adequate accelerations within a 20 minute time span. Well the doc wasn't happy with the results this time and sent me to the hospital.
Arrived at the hospital to be again hooked up to the NST machine. I was then told "it's time to have this baby!"
They said her heart rate wasn't accelerating enough and although she wasn't in any danger then, if they waited then she could potentially be. So I was like, ok....lol I had no other choice. Even though I hadn't packed ANYTHING for our move because I was having contractions and we were to move on Saturday.
They took me in for my surgery and everything went very well. Meds worked great and I didn't feel a thing and she came out whaling like a banshee and she looked healthy as an ox and beautiful as ever. They took her to be cleaned up while I was closed up from the c-section.
So, I am in recovery and Josh goes to let the dog out. When he gets back I had been wheeled into my room and he went to go get Izzy to bring her to mama.
He returned about 10 minutes later, not with Izzy but with a nurse and he had tears in his eyes. So immediately I start to freak out. Seems baby girl started turning blue and wasn't breathing well. They hooked her up to oxygen and she stabalized but they weren't satisfied so they had to hook her up to what's called a c-pap (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) Which is basically like a ventilator but not as bad. It pumps oxygen in with pressure to basically breathe for my baby girl.
She has IV's in her and these big tubes running to her nose. AND because these tubes were humongous and she HATED them (I couldn't blame her) they had to sedate her so she was out of it.
WORST MOMENT EVER, they wheeled my bed in and I just started crying. I couldn't stand seeing her like that!!
I'll cut past the details of the next few days and summarize that she struggled and slowly was able to be wheened off the cpap. She fought and fought like a lil trooper and then yesterday finally they put her on the pressurized oxygen and then today after 4 days of worry and heartache she was wheened completely off the oxygen. I wasn't allowed to hold her for the first 2 days and that was TORTURE!!
They started her first on the feeding tube and then my lil fighter ripped her IV out so the doc decided to try and give her food by bottle.
They told me she had to take 25 cc's of forumla every 3 hours (around an ounce) to be able to stay off the IV. The nurse prepared me that because this was her first try that they may have to start he IV again and then build her up to the 25 cc's. She said she'd do the first feeding to ensure the best possibility of her taking enough.
They wanted her to take the 25 cc's in 30 minutes so here came the test. They got her down and put the bottle in her mouth and that lil stinker took 50 cc's in 7 mins. lol She was ready to eat.
So, she's taken almost 2 ounces every 3 hours since 8am this morning and I've fed her twice! She's completely unhooked and in a regular crib and they said as long as her jaundice doesn't increase and she gains a lil weight at the rate she's eating then she should be going home either tomorrow or Wednesday hopefully!!!! (jaundice from lack of eating causing her liver not to cleanse her as much as she needed)
Baby girl's a trooper and a fighter and I am so amazingly blessed and happy. I was released on Sunday from the hospital but I've been staying as a guest to take care of her and there was no way I was leaving her side. Thank you all for your prayers!!
BTW my aunts and Josh and my dad got us all moved in and I didn't have to do a thing!!!
Enjoy the pics and I'll be back soon...I've got a lot of recovering and mothering to do so I will probably be pretty busy for a while :)
