| A little bit of Shallow goes a long way.

The past day or so, I am kind of surprised by the things I have been thinking about.
I work in a world where looks are my main source of income. People want to look their best, and I do that for them. So. for me, looks and colors are very important. As a Stylist I am always trying to find ways to make someone look better. Which often translates to myself and people close to me. My point is, how can I stay grounded in such a shallow pond? Where celebrity mags are the DIY on how to kill your self esteem. Some sadistic thing that we (women) keep going back for more. Its hard to feel attractive when 2% of the population look like goddesses, and are wealthy enough to keep the image up. Every Friday and saturday night, the social ritual is like a mass worship for the trillion dollar entertainment business.
Then I hear myself respond to a question lastnight, that outside of a small critirium, looks don't matter. If looks didnt matter, I wouldn't have a job. How do I keep grounded in a world that believes the opposite, to keep from being sucked into the shallow pond? I do believe that outside of basic hygene and matching your clothes, looks dont matter. I think the way somone treats me is more important. If you're good looking, hey thats a bonus. In the end, when you're 80, your butt is flat and your boobs get tucked into your belt. Your hair is white, so is your skin, and your stomach is like an accordian. So how we look in the end is a non issue. But being happy on the other hand is.
