Just signed up, which might be evident from the fact that this is my first post. I'm also deciding what in my life is worth putting into words. Probably not much. I think I'll stick to random thoughts instead of diary format. But, just so it's out of the way, I will outline an average day in the life of Kate. just for you:
1) Jolt awake as the result of: a. my ADHD boyfriend waking up next to me and immediately picking up his verbal train of thought right where he left it before spontaneously passing out the night before (I envy his sleep patterns) or b. the uneasy feeling of being watched. My cat likes to stare at me when I sleep. I think she may be plotting my demise.
2) Eat a breakfast that incorporates venison in some way. Again, the ADHD boyfriend is to blame here. He likes to give animals "lead headaches." His words, not mine.
3) Go to my office, which is the size of a small, mediocre, public university copy room (that's what it was until recently), and check my email.
4) Consult a "to-do" list that I created the most previous Monday. For kicks, I then add things I have already done and then cross them off.
5) Play Mine Sweeper.
6) Visit my supervisor and impress him with a detailed overview of an accomplishment that took me approximately a half hour (and he always seems incredibly impressed... which makes me wonder what he does all day. Last week I walked into his office and he was staring vacantly into the door way, and I suspect his might occur with some frequency).
7) Drink a diet soda, eat some bulk section snacks, check for new Lost episodes, run a mark-recapture known fate model in Program MARK, play minesweeper, look for cute dogs on the humane society website, bitch about missing coworker to other coworkers, play minesweeper, listen to an episode of This American Life while while simultaneously playing minesweeper.
8) Go to the bathroom to get away from other coworkers. Have some good thoughts until the motion detection light turns itself off from lack of motion.
9) Pack personal belongings (i.e. put cell phone back in purse)
10) Go home
11) Eat dead deer again.
12) Menial tasks. laundry, dishes, fishtank cleaning, coitus, shower, maybe YMCA.
13) Crawl into bed with the boyfriend and the cat. Do a little snuggling and chatting while I settle in. When comfortable (~30 min. after laying down) I start administering threats of bodily harm to ADHD when he won't stop sharing random thoughts. Sleep and repeat.

Sometimes there are moments which elicit more enthusiam, usually on weekends... but that's about it. The average weekday in the life of Kate.
