I am so excited!
Last night I asked BF what we were going to do for the 4th. We have been saying what are we going to do for a couple days, but never made a decision, I think he could tell I really wanted to go to my parents. You see, my family all gets together in Aspen, where I am from, for the 4th. It will be my grandparents. numerous aunts and uncles and cousins and of course my parents and sister (my brother is in Spain for the summer.)
So, to my surprise, BF called me this morning at work at about 10am and said, "let's go to Aspen!" I almost screamed. He never wants to go because he is overwhelmed by my family and isn't into family events. You know like big BBQ's or picnics. So I said I am so happy but can you change my oil tonight? It's been awhile and since we are going to drive over Independence Pass I would like to make sure the Ho-Runner keeps a runnin, (my nickname for my 4-Runner another good story).
At lunch I went to Auto Zone and the boys were more than willing to help me get the filter and oil and wiper blades and gave me a nice little discount, it pays to be female! So I took the Ho-Runner to BF's work to trade him cars. I also stopped at the gas station and grabbed 4 Mountain Dew's for him and the guys since he told me they were all working through lunch to leave early. I know, I'm awesome. They were happy for their little pick-me-up green liquid.
Work is going by so slow since I am SO excited for this weekend. We are leaving tomorrow morning, hey we will be driving over Independence Pass on Independence Day, cool man! My mom called and said, I am buying beer what does BF like? So cute, I lover her, and she said that she bought $200 worth of fireworks, and changed the sheets in the guest room, and that she couldn't wait to see me! I can't wait to see her. When I called her earlier and told her we were coming she screamed to! I love my momma. I told her that on Saturday I didn't know what anyone else was doing but I was taking BF and Bergen up the pass a little to hike to the Grodo's and the Ice Cave. She called back and said that she cancelled her plans to go to a friends and told my Nana that I was doing that and now the WHOLE fam is going. Cool. Including my aunts new eharmony fella. Who I can't wait to meet.
So tomorrow we will get there around 12, watch the parade, go to a BBQ, go to the Aspen Music Festival tent and sit outside and listen to the concert and drink wine, then back to our hotel for fireworks. Oh, did I mention my grandparents own a hotel in Aspen? Ya, so that's where we will be mostly tomorrow, and swimming in their pool too! YAY! Then Saturday up to the Grodos for some hiking and picnic. It's going to be a blast, and I am not going to let any little thing get to me, not even my stupid PMS. I love my fam and I can't wait for this day to be done!
Wow, I keep going and I am a little hopped up on MD! My mom keeps calling me. She is so cute. She's like make sure you bring a suit, make sure you bring a jacket for the mountains, blah blah. Silly girl is just as excited as me!
I guess I should go do some work. I'll be back... but until I am I wish everyone a fun filled weekend! Even those who aren't celebrating the 4th, or who are celebrating there own "independence", thinking of you E2S sending you peaceful and loving thoughts.
