 The Futileness of Schedules
Here it is Saturday, the 6th day of the new year. It seems as if it is both a long time and a short time since Christmas. My week-long vacation the week before Christmas seems so very long ago, and yet still rather fresh in my mind. I remember sitting on the deck watching while the dogs went out, just thinking. It's too bad I don't have more weeks of vacation to do that. If I remember correctly, if I was still working at Wal-Mart I would have 17 years of service, which would mean I would have 4 weeks of vacation (if I'm remembering correctly and they haven't changed the vacation policy in the time I've been gone).
Then again, if I had stayed at Wal-Mart too much longer, I probably would have gone on some sort of killing rampage by now. When I left Wal-Mart for Kay-Bee Toys, my stress level went from eyebrow-high to about knee-high. I was a lot healthier and happier once I left Wal-Mart, so I guess that was a pretty good trade-off.
Of course, I'm even more happier now that I'm running a tobacco store. That's ironic. I'm healthier than I have been, even though I sell cancer by the pound. Mu-hah-hah-hah-hah-ha! (That's my evil laugh, by the way. I've been practicing so that I can just jump into being an evil genius super-villain when it comes time.) Yes, I do need to lose some weight so that I won't have as many health problems in the future as I might if I continue the way I am now, but that is about the only real health problem I have at the present time.
Well, that's not exactly totally truthful. By my count, it's been 13 days since I de-friended Hyacinth (sorry, it was the only "H" name I could think of; the careful reader will have noticed by now that I started off calling my dancer friend "Angel" and proceeded through all the letters of the alphabet to the current one, "H"). I would like this to be the last time that I mention her again. It won't be, I'm sure of that. Her betrayal of me has really hurt me in ways I didn't think possible. I know now that she was just laughing at me behind my back while smiling to my face (if that isn't mangling the metaphors too much).
Anyway, while I've been reading Seneca, I don't have the book in front of me at the present moment, and I'm far too lazy...er busy, busy to go get it. So you guys are gonna have to suffer through another day.
Here's what I've got in mind for the next few days. Today, I'm going to work from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., then I'm going to go home and take a small nap after lunch. Then, I'll get up and either noodle around San Andreas just causing death and destruction, finish watching the first season of Futurama, or just sit down and do some writing. It all depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Then Sunday, I'll come into work, do all of my week-ending paperwork and change out the tab for the month, and maybe even do a little reading and writing.
Sunday night, I'll come home and probably read for a while until I get tired, then off to bed. Mondays are the days I usually go into work in the afternoon, so I'll work until 7 p.m., and then go home and maybe start on the second season of Futurama. Pretty breakneck speed so far, right? Now, this is where I'm going to shift things around.
Monday night, I'm going to go down to the strip club, and I am not going to consider the night a success unless I walk away with at least 2 phone numbers. If I can't even do that, well, I think I may just hang the whole thing up. Actually, I'd be happy with just one particular phone number, but the girls' don't follow any real set schedule, so I'm not going to get my hopes up on that until I get there Monday night.
