Politics is all people seem to talk about these days. It covers the news, taking lead stories away from more pressing matters. The talk just never seems to end.
After months of listening to friends, relative, co-workers, etc, debate over who they think would make a better president, Obama or Clinton, I remembered a column I wrote for my college newspaper a year ago. I still haven't made my decision on who I will vote for. Being a Republican, the choices are very slim now that Gulianni took himself out of the running. However, I think that, well, my column may provide the answer necessary ...
White House just might need a new color of paint

Three Democrats, a white man, a black man and a woman walk into a giant white house. Who is most likely to call it home until 2012?
Ignoring the fact that Arizona senator John McCain will most likely be the Republican candidate, what if the aforementioned Democrats were the only 2008 presidential candidates in a race to get the key to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.?
Let me answer this for you in a stereotypical manner. Feminists and other women - who do not really follow politics or claim a party - and Hillary Clinton's immediate family will vote for her.
John Edwards will secure the votes from the same people who voted for the horse, I mean John Kerry (who announced Wednesday he does not plan on running again), and Barack Obama will receive the votes of the entire African-American community along with everyone else who wants to see a little color in the White (symbolism perhaps?) House.
I can't say I didn't see Clinton running for president, but I can say I don't see her taking over her old bedroom any time soon. Yes, she has the White House experience and she's been through the presidency before with a man who cheated on her - although, seriously, who wouldn't - but that doesn't give her an automatic bid. Plus, the nation doesn't seem ready for a female president yet. We're having enough problems with war as it is without Clinton dropping a bomb on country X just because the ambassador insulted her shoes.
Edwards has experience in a presidential campaign after running under Kerry in the 2004 election. Despite not always being in the spotlight, if they didn't vote for him then, why would people vote for him now?
Obama is the best choice and the favorite for most. Even though he won't be announcing his decision until Feb. 10, people are still hoping to see him run. Some people have problems with him because he is either "too new" or because he admitted to doing drugs. But why should that be a problem? A substantial number of people have tried drugs. Bill Clinton probably snorted a line or two in college. He was honest and didn't hide it.
What it comes down to is presence. The commander-in-chief needs to have a good presence about him or her, which includes excellent public speaking skills and likeability. Clinton looks like she could eat your soul. If her and Andrea Zinga ran at the same time, the world would probably implode.
Obama has a good presence about him. He's like the black version of Ronald Reagan without the movies.
In all honesty, this country will vote a black man in before a woman. And if by some chance Clinton is elected, Canada will be facing serious immigration problems.
