I am always left wondering what goes on in children’s minds. Like for instance today, my son (6) and my daughter (9), come up to me this morning to talk. Okay let me set the scene, it is 8 am in the morning and hubby has just brought me a cuppa in bed. And I am sitting up drinking my cuppa and listening to the morning radio. When the kids walk in,
“Mum can we talk with you?” I nod and pat the bed for them to join me.
“Okay what’s on your mind thing morning cherubs?” I reply
“Well we were wondering what we are going to do tomorrow (Sunday)?”
“I don’t know yet, how about we do Saturday first and then see what pans out” I reply.
“Yeah but we want to know what we are doing tomorrow/”
A little puzzled I finally ask “why do you have something you would like to do?”
“No, but we thought that seeing how it was the last day of holidays that we could all do something special”
“Ohhh” Is all that I could think off. Then after a minute I ask if hadn’t they had fun with all the things we had done over the holidays. Yes but”
So to cut a long story short they wanted to do something spectacular tomorrow. As I said in my last post, we have done a lot, but it just never seems enough. So while sitting there together we went over what we had done over the school holidays, we went swimming twice, to a park for a picnic lunch, to the movies, ten pin bowling (which I still can’t play). A few parties for my son, such the social butterfly he is. Shopping for my daughter and me when we were waiting for my son. Out for lunch a couple of times. A play at a friend’s house, a bike ride, and a few days at home.
So it was a jam packed time, but it just seems not enough for these two. I guess I better stop writing now; I have to go order the fireworks and marching band for the last day of holidays.
