Okay so life goes on.
Childhood sucked. But somehow I got through it. I did what I was told, be where I was meant to be, work hard at everything. When all of a sudden we are moving. As much as I got use to being isolated at times I was looking forward to the move. So one night I get up the courage and ask “Where are we moving to?” To my delight I found out that we are moving in with my nana. I was so happy. I couldn’t pack my things fast enough. I had hoped it was because nana had stepped in and told mum and dad what they were doing was unfair. However it was nothing like that. Mum and dad in their adult wisdom had decided to start their own business and needed to save as much money as possible.
I didn’t really care all I knew, was I wasn’t going to be shipped from house to house any more and I was going to be close to other families that had children. I hoped that I would be allowed to go out and play with them. I was about 10 when we moved and yes things eased up a little and some things I was allowed to drop and nana had even let me go and play with other neighbours kids.
It was then that I meet the family next door. They had 4 children and they were around my age, 1 girl and 3 boys. I didn’t care who or what they were as long as I was allowed to play with them. At first it was great it was better than great, than as time went on I started to realize that my family was different.
Where we lived at my nana's house, had a government building behind it. Which had a lovely large garden which wrapped around the whole building and had many places to hide in. As well as a grassed field. It wasn’t an oval as such but we made it into ours. Once every had left and on weekends we would go out and play in the fields and in the gardens our imagination took over. They also had a large flat car park where we would ride our bikes or roller skate. We use to have so much fun. Of course I was always the first one that had to go home but that didn’t bother me and at night I would convince my nana to let me do my homework outside in the backyard so that I could watch as they all continued to play.
Life was so fun then for a short time.
