So my question for you today is

We all have a song that we hear that evokes powerful emotions good or bad, happy or sad  when we hear it.  What is that song and if you would like to share the reason feel free.

oh and I pass the baton to
Angelwings

To kick this off I would have to say
"Somewhere, Somehow" sung by Barbara Streisand.

It was played at my grandmothers furneral and it was also being played when I was signing the adoption pappers for my daughter.
It gave me hope that somewhere and somehow we would be together again one day.

To Where You are by Josh Groban

Reminds me how I almost lost my soulmate KP and that I still have her

oooo I love this new tradition. for me music plays my life, I could pick one a song for every moment of my life. but, if I have to choose one it would be "are you strong enough to be my man" this is the anthem of my lovelife. I love that song and every time I hear it I have to blast it and sing at the top of my lungs. Still wondering if I'll find the man strong enough to handle me :) GREAT question KP.

For me there isn't any one song that stands above the rest. More songs than I can count hold very special memories ... a few notes and I'm transported back to "another time --- another place." Each song spending time in that #1 position at different times in my life.

One song "Color My World" by Chicago takes me back to the memory of my high school prom. As I walked into prom it was the song that was playing. That evening was so magical for me as it was my first formal dance. I felt like a princess in my long yellow formal dress. My boyfriend presented me with a small bouquet of sweet smelling pink carnations. Before that night I had never smelled a carnation. From that day forth pink carnations have been my favorite flower ... another reminder of that special evening so long ago.

"the dance" by Garth Brooks, and the reason is simple listen to it

Fighter by Christina Aguilera!
It makes me feel like there are reasons for the people who have used you or tried to keep you down. Usually not my favorite singer although she has a beautiful voice but I do love the song!
Oh tonyray I love the dance! That makes me cry!

"Beautiful" by Christina Auguilera

"You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down
Don't you bring me down today..."

I think that is something that we could adhere to.

For me, it has to be Ronan Keating's "My One Thing That's Real".

At a time in my life when I was feeling so much anguish and fear, it gave me hope for the future and for the love that we share.

I still love to listen to it, it makes me remember and too this time smile :)

I really like this question too. Another song that holds much meaning for me, at this time in my life, is "The Heart of the Matter" by India Arie. I started out my very first post, here on thoughts, with the following words from the song ....

"The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew,
I'm learning them again."

Aww, I'd thought of a VERY similar question!! :D Now i have to think all over again!! Check my page tomorrow guys...

Ok, so i dont have just one song...I have a few. But to top it all:

Unbreakable by Westlife
This song reminds me of my guy and our relationship...so its very close to my heart. Few extracts from the song:

"Took my hand
Touched my heart
Held me close
You were always there"

"Swept away on a wave of emotion
Overcaught in the eye of the storm
And whenever you smile
I can hardly believe that you're mine"

"This love is unbreakable
It's unmistakable
And each time I look in your eyes
I know why
This love is untouchable
I feel that my heart just can't deny
Each time I look in your eyes
Oh baby, I know why
This love is unbreakable"

The other song that is close to me, is

Have A Nice Day - Bon Jovi
I just love the lyrics, and try to stand by it always..kind of like the philosophy of my life :)

"I ain't gonna do what I don't want to,
I'm gonna live my life.
Shining like a diamond, rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge, I show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in my face,
I say, Have A Nice Day."

Great question KP, took half a second to think an answer lol.
Lips of an Angel (prefer the Jack Ingram version) - a while back, I made a terrible mistake. Jack's version came out around the same time. Now, I shut the radio off whenever it plays. lol sorry for the depressing comment.

Ooohh....Happy Ending! Long, good choice! I like Mika's Big Girls You Are Beautiful...

"Get yourself to the buterfly lounge, find yourself a big laayyydeee..."

Definitely my philosophy, hehe x

Okay, I had to really, really think about this one. I love music, all kinds and I am a whizz in a pub quiz when the question is about music. There is a soundtrack to my life!

But...it has to be...Foreigner, 'Waiting For A Girl Like You' because for me and Cheb...its our song (or one of them!).

The first night we spent together we danced around a hotel room to it and for the three or so minutes of the song no one else in the world existed, it was bliss, and she has since said that was the first time in her life she ever felt totally loved. Some of the words...

"You're so good
When we make love its understood
Its more than a touch,
Or a word we say
Only in dreams can it be this way
When you love someone...

And I know its right
From the moment I wake up
Til deep in the night
There's nowhere on earth
That I'd rather be
Than holding you, tenderly

I've been waiting,
For a girl like you
To come into my life...'

Ahh bliss...we will dance to that at our wedding one day.
Sorry - I took up half your page!

Lots of love

Dave xxx

Awe...hunny...

Hi KP...okay, this is a toughie because I see my fella has already picked our song (and I can see him now, singing it as he wrote it! hehe)
Okay...so as he said, we have a few songs, and most of the others are Beatles songs - I always say you can tell that Paul and John were head over heels when they wrote most of their music.
One of my favourites, that I have a habit of singing to Dave (although I have to change the words a bit) is a slightly less known one, called Here, There And Everywhere. I thoroughly recommend you listen to it, its beautiful.
Some of the words:

"To lead a better life,
I need my love to be here
Here
Making each day of the year
Changing my life with the wave of his hand
Nobody can
Deny that theres something there
There
Running my hands through his hair
Both of us thinking that love never dies
Watching his eyes
And hoping I'm always there

I want him everywhere
And if he's beside me I know I need never care
But to love him is to need him everywhere...

I want him here
and everywhere
Here
there
and everywhere..."

Perfect. Theres also Foreigners 'I Want To Know What Love Is'...was very fitting when I met Dave.

Good question, looking forward to Angelwings!

Thought I would add one for Stanley...when I was pregnant he used to love Coldplay's "Fix You", it used to send him absolutely bonkers kicking me! And when he was just a few hours old it came on the radio and he totally responded to it, kicking his legs and blowing bubbles. Its appropriate too, because he did 'Fix me'...
dont think I'll ever listen to it with a dry eye, the words are perfect.

Cheb xx (and Stanley of course!) xx

Mine would be "Have you ever seen the rain?" By Creedence Clearwater Revival... It reminds me of this time I was sitting alone in the gutter outside my house (in the rain, aswell >_<) after an unfortunate course of events, I heard that song come on from the neighbour's place. The events the song is connected to and the uncanny timing of it's playing just never cease to reduce me to tears.

Thought I would just jump into this, as it seems like fun. I would have to say, although it is a newer one, the song for me is "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney. The song came out during one of the most difficult times I have had in my life, and it reminded me how precious life is and how fast it is over. Every time I hear that song, it helps me slow down and appreciate what I have.

Songs I listen to everyday at the moment are :-

"I'd Lie For You" - Meatloaf ......
I'd never tell you one lie, I'd never let you down
I'd never leave, I'd be the one who'd always be around
Baby give me a chance
...
...
Baby Believe me, I could never do you wrong
And I would never paint your world blue
And if sometimes it seems I must have lost mind
I might be crazy but I'm crazy about you...
=====================
"RIGHT HERE WAITING FOR YOU" - Richard Marx

Ocean's apart Day after Day
As I slowly go insane!
...
...
I wonder how we can survive, this romance
But in the end if I'm with you, I'll take the chance

... here's to TAKING CHANCES!! :)

I have so many...hard to come up with just one...

Twilight Zone by Golden Earring - just reminds me of the good ol' days when I was young & would sit around listening to my mom's records all the time. I played this song A LOT! Along with Led Zeppelin IV.

ohhh KP...so many songs so little time.
I would have to say Praise You in This Storm - Casting Crowns...that song pulled me through the deaths of my grandmothers...I get teary just thinking about it

...I was sure by now,
God you would have reached down,
wiped our tears away
stepped in & saved the day...
Once again I say Amen &
it's still raining...
I'll praise you in this storm, &
I will lift my hands
for you are who you are,
no matter where I am
every tear I cry,
you hold in your hand you never left my side,
though my heart is torn,
I will praise you in this storm.

Of course Affirmation - Savage Garden...that song pretty much defines my theory in life.

There's so many more.......

100 Years by Five for Fighting. Makes me put my life into perspective. Also makes me cry everytime:

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you're wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you're on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

My number one all time favorite song..stops me in my tracks every time I hear it is: Faithfully by Journey.
While I have songs that take me back to a moment in my life(and there are a lot of these songs), this song rocks my world. It is my song to my husband.

peace :) shemelts

Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.

There are a bunch of other songs, mostly pop and rock stuff, I could talk about, but Amazing Grace is one of the few that really moves me emotionally and spiritually.
