I have a gripe that I am airing out.
For those of you who don't live in Australia may not know that our school year is about to start.
Early in December 2007, I had to hand in to the school our book list for 2008. Which is fine I can cope with that. All that was needed to be done was tick a couple of boxes and hand it back in. So I do this and hand it in before the due date and forgot all about it.
I also go an order some new school uniforms, A whole new set for my son (as it is his first year), and a few replacements for my daughter. I also hand this in in early december. After handing this in I am told that it will be all here for when I have to pick up the school books. That sounds good to me. Between the school books and the uniforms I am looking at close to $800.
So on Wednesday (23th), it is time to pick up the books and uniforms. So off we go to the school to pick everything up. We arrive and head off to where we normally have to go and no they have chosen to change it and no signage is put up to let everyone know. So as we are walking from one end of the school to the other we pass by the uniform shop and I decided to stop there first and pick up that order.
So after standing in the queue for 30 mins it is finally my turn. Now even though this is on the school ground it isn't run by the school. It is runn by a large company that deals with a handful of schools in the area. They know that many families have either pre ordered there orderes or will be coming on the day to pick up things. So I start off with my son as he is going to need the most things. My son is fairly small for his age and even though he is 5 years old his clothing size is that of a 3 -4 year old. So ask for our order or him, sorry we don't have any in your sons size. There is none in stock. Okay what about the next size up, no sorry. Okay what size did you give us, well sorry but your order hasn't been filled. Ohh. so my son is about to start school and you can't provide a unifom for him. Well we do have a size 8 (which is eqiverlant to a 7 year old). When will you be getting them in. Sorry I can't tell you that as I don't know.
Now hang on a minute. This is the most busiest time of the year for you and you have no stock. Yes that is about it I get told. Ohhh fine so I take one xxl shirt for my son so that he has something to wear for his first day. Then I ask about the hats, what size have you got in those sorry only large, well that will have to do. Ohh and no school bags either.
This supplier was meant to be better than the last one. And was meant to be cheaper too. Well show me were. If a company can not get their act together for the begining of the year how have they survived in this world of business.
So I get the few things that I can and head down to pick up the books. Only to find a similar situation again. My sons books are all there, however my daughters are missing half of them. Now the ones that are missing are the important text books that she needs. So now my daughter will go off to school next week with out her text books and not knowing when they will be delivered.
What is wrong with these companies. School is starting next week and none of them have the stock they need. It isn't like this is all new to them. We start school for the year at the same time each year. Why can't we get a desent service.
Just our luck that it will be delivered half way through the year.
So now my pen is busy scribbling away and complaning not only to the school for letting this continue year after year, but also to the companies for not being able to provide a service that we deserve and pay for. Ohh and what ticks me off is that the uniform company expected me to pay for my order when I didn't get it all. Well tell you what supply me with what I ordered and I will.

Wow...imcompetence at it's best...don't let it get you down and insist on a discount, you should not pay full price for their mistake....
