| Modern Medicine versus Prayer.
|
|
|
I am about to go for another round of test next week to see how the last lot of treatment has been going, and to see if there is any change from the last round of test.
I was talking with WK today (his night), when I put to him a question that has been in the back of my mind for a long time. And I bring it up now due to the fact of the comment that a nun he knows is going to get her order to pray for me, and there have been many times over the last few months, that he has made the call out on thoughts for others to do the same.
So my question was, Regardless of the results how much of the outcome is going to be due to modern medicine and how much of it towards prayer?
If there is a change for the better is this due to the fact that modern medicine has achieved this with my own will power and strength? Or is it due to the fact that some people have prayed for me? Or can it a bit of both? I know that many of you are going to say both, but what about those who don’t believe in the power of prayer. And I am sad to say that at this point in my life I am one of them.
Now lets turn this around and say what if there is no improvement and I have to endure more treatment or even seriously consider going back under the knife. Is that due to the failure of modern medicine? Or that the prayers weren't heard? Or once again both?
My train of thought on this at the moment is that it is all up to and left to modern medicine and me.
To bring the old argument of “If god was listening and cared for us all this wouldn’t have happened in the first place, because god loves all his children, and why would anyone wish to endure this”. And of course there is the argument that god only gives us what he feels we can handle. Well I wouldn’t wish this on anyone not even my worse enemy.

Darn, you beat me to this subject...LOL
Can I add something as the good lil Catholic boy...
Please save the comment that are about God's will not ours...I get tired of that
Listen, if I and all that pray for KP were not praying for a lovely, loving woman to get better so she can live and see her kids grow, so she can live and make the world better, I can live w/ this God's will stuff...
We are not praying for The Yankees to win, or whatever team you root for...we are not praying for the "lil red bike" or a pony. We are praying to make the world better. So save me the God's will stuff !
As for the answer to this question, I have no answer. I could say that the prayers make the doctor's smart, make then provide the right treatment but....
and yes I believe in prayer, but KP while i love you more than I want my next heart beat, I think much of prayer comes from the prayed for as much as the prayer. YOU need to believe.
And yes, if you really put this all together I wonder about prayer in this sense...God knows how this all ends, so why pray? But then people will say that He also knew you would pray, the prayer increases faith, and the faith is the real product....well if that is it why not skip this all, avoid the cancer, and I would believe in his great love in that he brought this angel into my life named KP.
Tomorrow the question will be how many angels dance on the head of a pin.

The beliefe in prayer and in God are of much less importance than the belief in yourself and others. Positive thinking isn't just a 'feelgod factor', it IS an actual healing energy, whereas negative, pessimistic thinking works against that.
"God" gave us all the power to heal ourselves and others, through the way we choose to think.
Best wishes to you and healing energy on its way to help your swift recovery friend.

I believe that it all depends on where you're heart and faith lay. I for one believe that prayer, hand-in-hand with modern medicene can do wonders. True God doesn't answer prayers in the manner we see fit and often times we don't see the miracle until all is over and done. All I can say to you is have faith, whether it be in yourself, doctors, God, whoever your higher power is..
PS - I used my crutch as a weapon!! You would have been so proud!! LOL

I agree with Mamacita. Faith combined with modern medicine works miracles. I wish you well and quick healing.

There was a man who was trapped on the roof of his house during a terrible flood and he was praying as hard as he could. Sure enough a boat pulled up and the man told the guy on the roof to get in but the guy said, No the Lord will take care of me, you go on. Well, a few more hours passed as he continued praying and another boat pulled up to help him but he told them to move on he'd be alright. He kept praying and a third boat came and insisted that he get in and he said absolutely not, the Lord's going to take care of me.
Well, he drown and went to Heaven and when there he told God, Man, I prayed to you for hours to help me and you just let me drown and I am pissed. God then said I don't blame you I'd be pissed too. Let me check this out and see what went wrong. God then opened up this great book and read a while and then said I can't understand it either I sent 3 boats to get you.
