From the mouths of babes.
I was sitting in the lounge the other night when my daughter asked me if I could check her work. I was a little confused as I wasn’t aware of any homework due. So being the dutiful mother I started checking her work. At first I wasn’t paying much heed to what was written or what I was reading. Then after a short time later the words started sinking in and I had to start again.
This is what she wrote:
Dear Santa,
My name is Savhanna and I am turning 9 in a few days. I have a little brother his name is Mackenzie he is 5 years old. I will be having a birthday soon so I won’t need much for Christmas. Just one present to open on Christmas morning will be okay. My brother however can have a few more as his birthday is a little later on.
I know that we have not been as good as we can be for mummy and daddy. And I know that we can try harder, but I promise that me and my brother will try harder from now on.
We want to ask for something really special and my brother and me have talked about this because we want someone else to be happy. I am not sure if you can help but we were thinking that maybe you could ask God to make our mummy better.
I thought you would be able to ask him because; you and him are very special people. And we have not been going to church much as mummy has been to sick. And I don’t know if god can hear my prayers.
We would like it if God could help mummy by asking god to give back mummy’s smile because we want to see her smile more and to be happy.
Me and Mackenzie will promise to try a lot harder to be good, and I hope that you can help us.
Love
Savhanna and
Mackenzie
P.S. Santa we will leave you a drink and biscuits out and carrots for the reindeers.
Needless to say she and I had a good cry.
