| An Apology to Whiteknight |
|
I can’t believe this, but I have to do it.
I am sorry Whiteknight.
I was wrong (hope you haven’t fainted yet lol).
I was busy trying to pack a few more things today when the phone rings. I finally find the phone and answer the call. Hello Ms P. I am calling form XXXX and would like to advise you that this call may be monitored.
Ohhh what the………? Now I am not the sort of person that likes to have bills lying around and usually they get paid either they day they arrive or the next day.
So it seems in my haste one day last month I have made a mistake with one of my bills. Goodness, call the National Guard, have me arrested.
So panicking I go to the desk, search through my files and pull out the bill. No sorry the bill has been paid on this date, and with this receipt number.
“Yes we understand this” I hear on the other end of the phone.
“Okay then what is the problem” I ask.
“It seems that you haven’t paid the full amount”.
In my mind I am thinking ‘no I can’t have stuffed it up’ so I look down and see that I have written paid in full.
“Sorry if you give me a minute I will log on to my bank and have a look at the records there”.
“Yes that is fine” I hear on the other end.
Lucky for me the computer was already on so it didn’t take long. So I pull up the account find the transaction and there it is paid in full. Wait I will just put my glasses on to check it. Ohhh goodness I have broken the world economy, I have under paid my account.
Here it is the phone call to ask me when I can pay the account. Still slightly confused
“Can you please tell me how much is it under paid” I ask.
“$1.25.”
“Wait what you are ringing me for $1.25. Are you sure that is right”.
“Well let me check our system” I hear on the other end. “Yes that is right you have under paid the account by $1.25”.
Ohhh please tell me this is just another bad dream.
“Okay well thank you for your call I will fix that up when the next bill comes in, which if I am correct will be in the next week”.
“I am sorry, if you do not pay this now we will have to charge you a fee of $30”
WHAT THE…………………..?
“Well I only pay through the internet and if I pay today it will not come up until Wednesday” I tell them.
“I am sorry but we need you to pay this today, we can take the payment form a credit card”.
Now wait on here you are asking me for $1.25 using a credit card
“Are you going to pay the fee it is going to cost me to have this small amount taken from my card?”
“Sorry we are not authorized to do this”.
“Well, SORRY, I am not going to use my credit card. And so I will just fix it up when the bill comes in”.
“Well if you don’t we will charge you a fee”.
“Well, SORRY, I am not going to pay that either”
“Then we will have to close down the account and you will no longer be allowed to use these services”.
“Okay fine do that and then you can explain to your supervisor and their supervisor and theirs why you have just lost a customer that has been with this company for 5 years or more. And see how well that will go down”.
Now I wasn’t having the best morning as it was, so this call was like nails going down a chalk board. So some where along the line I know the voice got raised and a few not so nice words were said. And yes I know that this is there job but you have to wonder what is going on when you are being chased for $1.25.
So to Whiteknight I am sorry for picking on you over the times about how you handle these calls in the past. I will never say another word about it ever again.
And as for the $1.25 they can just bloody well wait.
