Timing is everything isn't it? So much, if not everything we do revolves around time in some way or another. Today, is probably the most grateful I've ever been about timing. It was prefect timing.
I was at work today, serving away, when Jean took over my order and told me to have a quick break before she left for the day. I wasn't actually planning on taking a break, but I'm glad she told me to. After a quick trip to the ATM, as I was walking into the store, my phone rang. We're not meant to take personal calls at work, but I asked Jean if she'd mind. I took the call, and thank goodness I did. It was a lady named Michelle, she wanted me to have a job interview with her. I only found the job vacancy a couple of days ago and applied. I won't say where, but it's a rather fancy-schmancy new store opening in my city. Michelle was incredibly nice and I liked her right away. She confirmed to check what position I was applying for. I told her full time or a position with at least 35 hours a week. She was fine with that. Instead of her telling me when to meet her, she asked which day I'd prefer. I don't know how common that is, but it's never happened to me. I told her the mornings and days I was available for the next week and she picked a time. She even chose to come meet me in my suburb.
So there you go, timing does count. If I hadn't taken my break, I wouldn't have received the call.
Of course, this interview doesn't guarantee myself a job, but fingers crossed.
I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a job I was hoping to get. If anyone is following, I declined the job offer. They weren't going to guarantee the hours I need, nor did I like their manner of offering a position. They called, told me me when I was to start (I said I'd help set up the store - if I was given a job) and rattled off what clothes and shoes I need to where. I was meant to acquire all these items within 3 days, and I was working for 2. I had also told my interviewer that I would need 2 weeks notice for my current job. Obviously, they didn't take that into consideration.
But I'm not worried. Sure, I'm anxious to get a proper job by next year, but whatever happens, happens and I know there will be a reason for it.
