Wednesday's Fire
fire moves with such speed that it is almost impossible to understand how fast it goes unless you are there to see it . There are some fires in the mountains just on the other side of town- Wednesday the winds blew violently , swirling and pushing til a spark landed on the thatched roof of a nearby restaurant - and in less than an hour a town landmark had burned to the ground. The three businensses attached to the building are gone also. This is a huge loss - and almost no one has fire insurance. And for a tiny town with few amenities the fact that they were able to get three fire trucks here from other towns to help stop the flames from spreading , get the electric power back on by nightfall and the TV and internet cable back up by the next afternoon is pretty impressive. And there were no injuries to people - timing was such that the restaurant was in the down time between lunch and dinner - no one was at the bar.......
