 The Romance
There is a metaphor that God uses all through the Bible, spanning centuries and cultures, to describe his relationship with His people. That metaphor is the loving marriage between a man and a woman. God is a great communicator... the greatest, in fact. He knows how to get His point across. He wants His relationship with us personally and as His group of followers to be about romance.

What dominates Hollywood screens and music on the radio? Love stories. What is the key element in all the classic fairy tales? Love. Most people would either say that they're in a beautiful relationship that they wouldn't trade the world for, or that they're aspiring to such a thing. God created love to be the most beautiful thing in existence, and love between a human and the Creator is an even more beautiful love than that between a man and woman.

The Song of Solomon is a book in the Bible that tells this very love story. It is a beautifully intimate piece of poetry that conveys God's passion for His people. It's a nice reminder that God's plans are not boring and passionless, but quite the opposite. God is the Author of romance, adventure, passion...etc. and following Him means all of these things to the utmost.

Go read that book and then ask God to show you what real love and intimacy means. I'll do the same.
