Day 1: 2:26pm MST
The day is young. Upon arriving late last night, we recharged for our first true test of the trip: breakfast. I went to Sonic Burger because I woke up too late for the continental breakfast, but no matter, one Breakfast sandwich later I was good to go. We departed the Hampton Inn on the back of our fearless leader Jerry, who navigated us to Abilene from Dallas the night before. We arrived at McMurry's fielda full hour (pic) and a half before we were scheduled to start warming up, good job Jerry!! Some chose to rest and relax (pic), others chose to break out the fungos (which Vass apparently broke during travel the day before) for fungo golf, other's took part in a simplified Whiffle Ball World series (Semel wins, 8-7 despite Vass' disputed HR into the tree), and still others took time to master Flip (pic) with Luzar being the first one out every time....after Irsfeld of course.
Time to start stretching, we were bombarded by little stickies in the grass but we persevered and threw outside of the stadium before taking Pre-game batting practice inside. Due to Koosed's pace and abnormal amount of sweat, which we'll give him some slack b/c it is absurdly humid, we had time to take a pre-game. Coach decided it would be in the best interest to leave the pigtail in the middle of center field during pre-game (sorry, no picture). While pre-game took place, Clear decided to run back to the hotel for his jog while the other pitchers went into the bullpen to spin. Wayde remarked that he would love to spin with Cross but not Deese. This blogger thinks Deese is a great spinner because his curveballs are easier to catch than Wayde's.
We got back on the bus fully replenished with the help of Mr. Hyman and his moonpies and were greeted with 60 degree cold, jams, and Spider Man 3. Gotta love Jerry. Don, our host and according to T avid businessman, gave us gifts (pic) that T handed out on the bus. T almost fell over numerous times. About halfway home the entire bus waved to Clear who was running on the island in the middle of the road. Why he chose to run in the middle is interesting, but there is always a reason which I will find out and tell you all later. Jerry made his first slip of the trip when he gave T the intercom microphone (pic), but there is still alot of trip left to redeem himself.
Paul just got back from swimming to cool off from his and Semel's wrestling match (pic) and we will now be starting the first part of our goal to watch every Star Wars episode in order. The Phantom Menace is up now. Be prepared Darth Maul, Qui-Gon is comin' for you!!
I'll write back after our social BBQ tonight with authentic BBQ, see you soon blogworld!!
