 This Is It???
Hello everyone, hope all had a safe and enjoyable Halloween!

Today, I rant. I think it is wrong to take complete advantage of someone but, I find it especially disgusting to take advantage of a dead person. I have not seen the new Michael Jackson film and I don't plan on it. It is pitiful the way many have used his death as a means for their own gain. Michael's life, for whatever it was, is over. He was an influential musician, to say the least. Whatever you thought of him, you can't deny that. I remember shortly after he died, walking through Walmart, seeing all sorts of new compilation CD's of his music. An entire issue of Time magazine devoted to him, I saw that in my Krogers. Now, we have a major motion picture that is topping box office sales. Enough already! It isn't fair, to use the tragic and untimely death of this man, or ANY man, to get rich! So, I propose a law be added to the books. For a period of one year after the death of a celebrity, I propose that no one be allowed to create anything using that person's name or image. No new compilation CD's, no feature films, no t-shirts, no anything. Because no one should be able to get rich off the tragedy of others!

Thanks for reading...

I agree with you 100%, Jennifer. When I heard about the movie, I had decided immediately I would not be seeing it. I feel it is wrong to still be making money off him, especially with a new movie.

Where is this money going, that's what I want to know.Is it going to his family, a charity, where?

Well I did some research, and apparently, most off the money is going to repay his debts. I also learned his children will be richer then he ever was.Go figure!

still, though...you know that movie company is getting a big fat chunk of it

I really think that anyone making money off of someone elses misery is despicable, and i didn't want to get into this, but i will anyway, Many people view him as a predator on children, and I don't think it has ever been proven beyond reasonable doubt, but I believe he did pay out a huge sum of money because of this, if there is money to be made from this, i think that an appropriate charity should be getting the most, but we all know, that a movie wouldn't even be released, if the makers of that movie wouldn't be getting the biggest chunk of the profits. It is just the way of the world, sad but true.

I totally agree too. I think that it is so shameful to try to make money off of a tragedy. it is not just Michael Jackson. This happened after 9-11, and almost every time a famous person passes. I think the families should be able to grieve, without seeing commercialized images of their loved ones plastered all over magazine covers and along the store aisles. Some people in our society should learn to develop a little tact. .
